Ungstrup (11692), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 24, 2006 An opaque brown beer with a huge brown head. The aroma is very sweet and lovely roasted, but also with hints of alcohol. The flavor is very roasted giving it a very dry mouthfeel right from the beginning, but it also contains light spicy notes and hints of cellery. The end is dry and roasted. Quite nice. Thanks Papsø for sharing. Papsoe (11030), Frederiksberg, Denmark Mar 22, 2006 (On tap) Black and completely opaque beer with a creamy, beige head leaving some neat laces. Fat, rich, malty nose. Medium body with plenty of hard roasted - but not burnt - malt. Notes of chocolate and a dry, pleasant but not overwhelmingly bitter finish. A great, light porter. 210306 omhper (10950), Stockholm, Sweden Jul 5, 2005 Bottled, thanks beerhandy!Very dark brown, average head. Appley coffee aroma. Dryish and medium bodied, very fruity for a porter. The mouthfeel is light and somewhat fizzy and the finish salty. My least favourite from an otherwise solid brewer. Oakes (7030), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Oct 9, 2003 Very large head, rocky and with sizeable bubbles. Burgundy-tinged dark brown colour. The aroma shows a black malt acidity, the cookie part of an Oreo, and hints of coffee. Dark malt bitterness pervades on the palate, with cocoa, almond shell, and a touch of flowery hop far in the background. Slightly tart in the finish. Thin body overall. I can see the popularity of this beer - it shares many traits with the great one (St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout) - the bitterness, strong dark malt character...but it is neither as complex, nor rounded, nor full of body as the great one. It is decent, but definitely Tier Two or Three. joergen (6814), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 22, 2006 Bottle, thanks to Papsø for sharing.
