3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml from The Perfect Pour, Elkridge, MD. Glad I grabbed this one, since it seems to be one of the Boulevards that didn’t make it to NC (for whatever reason). Nice deep brownish-amber pour with medium carbonation, very little lacing. Nose of toasted barley, caramel malts, and very deep bean personality. Prickly mouthfeel accentuates crisp, dry notes. But the deep sweetness of the malts is still there, functioning almost like cream in the coffee. Roasts are subtle, and the character is actually coffee rather than just char. Well done.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. As someone who loves coffee and roast my own beans I find most coffee beers disappointing other than as an added flavor to a stout or porter. This is not the case with this beer. Aroma of huge coffee as expected, to the extent that is about all I get. A light brown pour with a small white head. Flavor is big coffee, with the malt taking a backseat but playing nicely. Well disguised alcohol, with just enough carbonation to keep it for leaning sweet or being too much. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Chocolate, coffee, and bread in the aroma. Bittersweet taste with coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. Finish is slightly sweet, with just a hint of drying alcohol and some roast coffee. Another fine effort from a good brewery.
