Neighbors for nearly twenty years, Boulevard Brewing Company and The Roasterie share a passion for making extraordinary beverages. In Coffee Ale, our two celebrated brewing traditions come together in a long-awaited collaboration. Ethiopian Sidamo from Africa’s Great Rift Valley has been carefully blended with rye, oats, and malted barley, and spiced with Perle and Styrian Golding hops. The delightfully fragrant beer presents a glowing, tawny-amber hue. The clean, crisp acidity of the air-roasted coffee mingles with malt on the palate, lingering faintly in a subtly sweet finish.

Clear brown color with frothy tan head. Nice brewed medium roast coffee, earthy dirt, sugary, medium roast malt, mild vegetal aromas. Light bodied with average co2. Sugared up light roast coffee flavors with mild chocolate, and dirt___tasty coffee brew

A corked 0.75l bottle. Looks good with a medium sized kinda beige looking head on top of a light blurry Cola colored beer. Lots of sweet slightly burned caramel on the nose. A bit to sweet compared to my coffee expectations, but it also of course is coffee infused in the aroma. A little bit of sweet concentrated prunes and licorice is also found here. Really enjoy the flavor in this. Tons of nice not to sweet but sweet licorice and coffee. It feels light oily in the mouth with a below average almost soft carbonation level. Dark candied sugar, some plums and a little bit of nice warming alcohol in the background. Have to say that the expectations are high for coffee flavor and aroma when you’re call a beer coffee ale, and perhaps that could have been a bit more present. All in all a nice tasty one! 22.11.2013

Big and bold here in the coffee department. Amberish pour, little head. Aroma of grains, light coffee, and herbs. Flavors are light fruits in the start, fairly roasty grains in the middle, with a big kick of coffee hitting and lingering towards the finish. Pretty good.

Best by date was a scratched so I could be old. Nice coffee, not espresso smell. Taste was coffee but flat compared to other smokestack. Good but not great. Abv was really hidden.

A cloudy dark brown beer with a soda head. The aroma is roasted malt, oats, herbal, and, of course, coffee. The flavor is oats, prunes, licorice, and coffee which lingers as a bitter finish. I’m glad to see they went a different way with this coffee ale, but it was somewhat underwhelming.

On bottle from Vinmonopolet Vika. Brown color, good foam. Immediate roasted aromas, coffee, malt and dried fruits. Medium/ full body & high complexity . Some sweetness, then bitterness- well balanced. Very enjoyable ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a clear deep brown copper-hued body with a large creamy off-white head. Nice looks. Nose is medium roasted coffee, herbs, licorice, mild chocolate and hints of bread dough, alcohol and caramel. Taste is smooth mildly sour coffee tones, roasted bread, caramel, rye, grains and hints of dark chocolate and spruce. Full body, medium carbonation. A very smooth and well-composed coffee ale from Boulevard.

From a 75 cl bottle shared at home on Thanksgiving day. Pours a hazy brown with an ecru head. Mild coffee nose. Flavors of coffee and tart cherries. Medium bodied with high carbonation. Effervescent finish.

Hazy dark amber with no head. The nose smells of stale cold coffee. Thankfully the flavor has a bit of chocolate and roasted malt biscuitiness, as well as a firm touch of coffee throughout, unfortunately the coffee note is the same as the aroma but not as off putting; like room temperature coffee gone stale.
