Neighbors for nearly twenty years, Boulevard Brewing Company and The Roasterie share a passion for making extraordinary beverages. In Coffee Ale, our two celebrated brewing traditions come together in a long-awaited collaboration. Ethiopian Sidamo from Africa’s Great Rift Valley has been carefully blended with rye, oats, and malted barley, and spiced with Perle and Styrian Golding hops. The delightfully fragrant beer presents a glowing, tawny-amber hue. The clean, crisp acidity of the air-roasted coffee mingles with malt on the palate, lingering faintly in a subtly sweet finish.

Pours a very deep amber with a full, creamy beige head that is long lasting. The aroma is roasted, with a large amount of coffee, along with caramel, toffee, and hints of chocolate and nuts. The taste is a bit sweet. In addition to the expected coffee, I find a lot of maple and toffee. Less chocolate yet more vanilla. It reminds me somewhat of a syrupy flavor actually. Medium in body, with more of a creamy texture. Aftertaste is coffee, vanilla, and maple, is quite potent, and lasts awhile. Overall this is very good. Its a little different, and packs a good punch. It could be a little less sweet, but the pros in this one easily outweigh the cons.

Bottle, 2013 :(. Pours hazy hazel, medium creamy beige head, great lacing. Aroma is coffee, mocha. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, loads of coffee, faint hint of tartness. Medium body. Kinda shocked how well this one held up.

This one got a lot of dominating bitter roasted coffee and it becomes a bit tideous. Medium thick brown. It’s alright but not in the same league as the other I had in the smokestack series.

bomber from 10/2013. didn’t realize it had been around this long. pours a medium brown with light mocha color head that is long lasting. some nice lacing on the glass. I do have a lot of floaties in my glass. the aroma is full roasted malts, bitterness from the coffee and chocolate. the flavor is creamy smooth with that coffee bitterness, roasted malts, hints of chocolate and when I say creamy smooth I mean creamy smooth as in peanut butter. very delicious. just now wonder what it would have tasted like a year ago.

(Bottle) Dark reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of fresh coffee, chocolate, dried fruit, brown bread, hints of smoke and tar. Malty, slightly smoky taste with lots of coffee, dark bread, liquorice, chocolate, some orange peel and a gentle, slightly earthy, bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with just a touch of sweetness. Tasty and quite interesting, with lots of fresh coffee and alcohol well hidden. Very nice.

Uneccessary bomber pop late night from Greg w stl. Murky brown pour fine frothy beige head. Nose is fine coffee and dark fruits. First glass tasted kinda weird of off fruit and coffee. Subsequent glasses were more pleasant of better coffee, plums, light hops, some grains. Smooth enough. All righty then.

Backlogged rating: Plenty of coffee with a bit of walnut, mocha and bredy notes. Slight spicy hop notes. Lively and pretty crisp for a coffee ale but as expected a tad thin with the coffee. Good but got one note after a while.
