COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Neighbors for nearly twenty years, Boulevard Brewing Company and The Roasterie share a passion for making extraordinary beverages. In Coffee Ale, our two celebrated brewing traditions come together in a long-awaited collaboration. Ethiopian Sidamo from Africaís Great Rift Valley has been carefully blended with rye, oats, and malted barley, and spiced with Perle and Styrian Golding hops. The delightfully fragrant beer presents a glowing, tawny-amber hue. The clean, crisp acidity of the air-roasted coffee mingles with malt on the palate, lingering faintly in a subtly sweet finish.

Bottle... Clear burnt-orange pour with a mid-sized, frothy, off-white head. Decent retention. The aroma is a blend of medium-roast coffee, toffee and vanilla. Medium-bodied with airy carbonation. The Flavor is mainly of coffee and is lightly acrid. Balanced nicely, itís bittersweet. Finishes acrid, mildly sweet and slightly tongue-numbing (like Novocain). Bottle courtesy of newcigarz!

Amber pour, white head. Flavors of coffee up front, hops, smooth oat flavors, spicy rye, hints of sweet sugary notes at the end. Pretty good stuff. I prefer the chocolate though.

Bottle @ Casa de Greg, picked up at Wilburís Fort Collins. Holy fucken balls, the foam is out of control on this slut. No apparent sign of infection in the nose. Hazy brown appearance. Slight metallic, cola, caramel, a bit sweet, lightly roasted coffe aroma. A bit twangy, milk chocolate, mocha, light coffee, earthy, creamy flavor with a soft yeast presence. Pretty good but not as good as some of their releases.

Tap at the Hay Merchant, Houston, 21/05/13. Mahogony brown with a good sized tan head. Nose carries a big espresso burst, coffee cake, sugars. Taste comprises coffee cake, tirimasu, brown bread, biscuit, dark caramel, demerara sugar. Medium to full body with fine carbonation, sweet finish. Decent stuff, a little over sweet but Iím a sucker for coffee infused beers! Alcohol is well integrated.

750mL thanks to DedicatedToFun! Murky deep brown to mahogany pour. Thicker latte foam. Huge lacing. Nose is softer coffee latte, rye bread. Taste is biting, richer dark bread, whole wheat, and no green coffee. Overall pretty solid.

Sample at Kurtkeller 005: Coffee-tastic 01 on 02/08/2014. Pours a slightly hazy reddish-brown color with a medium foamy tan head that recedes gradually to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted coffee, malt and hops. Medium to full body with flavors of charred malt, black coffee and earthy hops. The finish is roasty with a grainy malt and espresso aftertaste. Above average overall.

bottle-conditioned 750ml. thick tan colored head on a lightly hazed dark brown body. cold coffee nose with chocolate cookie and dark cracker malts and faint metallic notes that seem to diminish after a short time. rich, frothy and soft carbonation provides explosive uplift of a sweet, peppery and tantalizing roasted coffee beans with ample alcohol warmth, fullness and sweetness in the finish with mild to moderate roasted bean astringency and noble hop bitterness. a lovely texture, sure enough thatís something you can count on from Boulevard. I didnít hesitate to buy but it took me a few days to come around to opening a 9% coffee beer, but here I sit enjoying the hell out of it. the coffee presentation is rich and flavorful and the body and carbonation are lush and satisfying. itís a play of warming and sweet alcohol with a soil / wet grain / oat richness and vibrant carbonation. a novel beer executed well.

Flavors are of coffee, raisins, estery, fudge, coconut, medium nutty and toasty malt. Slightly spicy. Very very lively carbonation that seems out of place, dry, low body, almost a bit acidic.
