COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With this Imperial Pilsner, Jean-Marie Rock and Steven Pauwels have revived a beer brewed by Rock at the beginning of his career. For more than 30 years only a cherished memory, it lives again in this collaboration. A starkly simple recipe combined with an exquisitely complex brewing process produce a beer of subtle elegance, a study in delicately balanced contrasts. 100% Pilsner malt makes a clear yet restrained opening statement, answered by the steady, harmonious chorus of Saaz hops, echoes of which linger in the dry, crisp finish.

A nice collaboration and the start of a good tradition. Looking forward to the next. More body than the typical pilsener. Grassy, dry cardboard, and a bit of fruit, maybe apple.

Pours yellow-orange with a fizzy white head. Smell is fairly faint, hints of fruitiness from the yeast, hints of citrus, and a solid pils malt backbone. Taste lends to some citrus and crisp stone fruits, with mild bitterness and some malt sweetness. Full-bodied with a slick texture and average mouth-carbonation, Boulevard Collaboration No. 1 Imperial Pilsner finishes with a hint of herbalness that fades into sweetness.

750ml bottle thanks to Craig. Pours a very bright golden/orange color with a large white head. The aroma is sweet lemon and zesty yeast. The flavor is very nice; smooth, some lemon and citrus, light sulfur, nice carbonation. Not hot at all. Enjoyable.

Bottle:   Pale straw, a little dirty and hazy, large frothy white head, sticky lacing.   Nose is very grassy, fresh cut even.   Smidgen of barnishness and horse blanket.   Somewhat of a grassy flavor, a little mealy, somewhat bright.   Hint of dryness, but not as funky given the fact that Jean-Marie was involved in this one.   Better than your average American Pilsner thats for sure.   Well, certainly a bit more funk but not over the top.   Body and mouthfeel are fairly hefty.   Barnish, slight funk, straw/hay/grass, and a bit of pear or apple skin.   Interesting Pilsner to say the least.   Not as funky as I would have thought, but different enough from the norm to make it interesting.

750 mL bottle from somewhere in Indiana, batch 1-2009. Pours slightly hazy yellow with a thin white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of grassy hops, apples and a faint bready maltiness. The taste is toasted malts, grassy hops, bread, some butterscotch and apple. Medium bodied.

Strong aroma of bread and spicy yeast. The flavor is similar to the aroma, strong the bready malts with spicy yeast notes, with a bit of alcohol throughout and in the finish. Although an interesting brew, the alcohol could have been made more transparent because it overwhelmed the flavor, odd for a relatively low abv of an extreme beer.

Hazy golden color wiht a small, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of toasted malts, honey, grains, toffee, faint oxidation, and light alcohol. Taste of honey, pils malt, light citrus, toast, grass, and faint alcohol in the finish.

There are light, sweet, crisp, and light vague vanilla. It pours a bit cloudy but more clear and nice for the pils style with a decent off white head. The flavor is creamy for a pilsner with light vanilla notes. The body is smooth, not too bubbly, but right on the nose. The hops are subtle and smooth on the palate, well done1
