Collaboration #3 Stingo was brewed using traditional English ingredients. A variety of ale and specialty malts from Yorkshire are at the forefront; their pronounced roasty aroma and flavor contain hints of toffee, cocoa and bread crust. English hop varieties contribute subtle herbal, peppery qualities. The beer was brewed in batches; some was fermented on oak, some was fermented normally, and some was allowed to sour in the mash tun before being transferred to a fermenter. Boulevard’s brewers, along with Dann and Martha Paquette of Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project, then blended the batches until desired levels of wood and tartness were achieved for the final product. Draft. Hazy brown color, medium tan head. Aroma of burnt toast, caramel. Taste is dark fruit with a burnt edge. Nice.

Cola brown, med head. Dry, roasty, just a bit of fruit for sweetness. Maybe some burnt toffee. A mild flavor, though - delicate, but maybe a bit too much so.

Draft @ The Ale House. Served in a Boulevard tulip, deep brown with red highlights, thin yet dense head( tan in color) good retention. Nose has tons of malt, chocolate and caramel dominate. English malts come through. Hops are  not noticeable through all the malt. Lots of dark fruits and slightly tart berries. Weak notes of oak. With chocolate malt and minor hints of coffee. Does show some complexity. Taste does show the 8.5% ABV however, only after I Started eating my dinner and the glass was half emptied. The body is medium leaning on the full side. Overall is is a real finely made brew, well worth a try!

750ml bottle shared by jsprime. deep reddish brown, tan head. big english malt nose. toffee, dark fruit, fairly rustic. enjoyable but not a top example of the style.

(draught) cloudy red-amber, wispy tan bubbles. Nose of florals, cocoa, English hops, bready, caramel. Taste is richer, cocoa, oak, earthy hops, light alcohol and bread. Medium to light body.

bottle. Pours musty brown.Sweet light malty nose. Big alcohol taste is rather sharp. Brown ale musty, musk, thin body. A bit mixed up.

Bottle @ home picked up at Argonaut Denver. Pours a deep brown appearance with a big, brown head. Quite herbal, grassy hoppy, somewhat earthy, cola, caramel aroma. Somewhat boozy, chewy caramel, chocolate, cola, plum, dark fruity, cracker, grassy flavor with a tangy, boozy, a bit syrupy finish. One of my least favorite beers from Boulevard.

Clear dark brown with a resilient light brown head. Aroma of caramel, cocoa, toast, nuts, and wood. The taste is sweet and slightly sour, roasty and woody with a nice bitterness and a slight alcohol bite with a bit of metal. Medium-full bodied, a tad syrupy, lightly carbonated, and a little sharp. Mostly pretty good, though the metallic flavor is a little off-putting.

750, corked and baled. Pours a murky and very dark ruddied brown. Dense creamy surging tan head that settles back, leaving lots of lace. Tangy sweet nose, almost tart, like overripe fruit. Thick, fairly flat body. Fruitcake and treacle, in a heavy bready way, on the mid palate. Odd battle between residual malt sugars and tree fruit notes, not very integrated. Tangy sweetish finish.

Pours ruby red with a medium sized khaki head. Smells of coffee, caramel, and light dark fruits. Taste is weak coffee, and mildly tart red fruits. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and fair mouth-carbonation, Boulevard Collaboration No. 3 Stingo finishes mildly tart and with some caramel sweetness.
