2008 Boulder Strong Ale Fest: Cloudy and gold; decent head. Great mouthfeel. Very vibrant and aromatic. Malts were grainy and lightly toasted. Subtle sweetness. Huge pepper from start to finish. Snappy spices, flowers, herbs and a pinch of perfume. Loved the aromas. Mild fruit flavors and farmy yeast in the background. Great stuff ... one of my favorites from the ’08 festival.

Draught, Boulder Strong Ale Fest 2008. Head is mostly diminishing. Body is hazy medium amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (cookie), moderately hoppy (apricot, flowers, orange), moderately yeasty (barnyard, horseblanket), with notes of dried mango, ginger, band-aid, wood. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively/soft carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Awesome aroma...both fruity and wild in a nicely integrated fashion. Not quite as amazing in the mouth experience, but this makes me want to retry the regular Double Wide for sure, which I didn’t care for at all (at GABF 07).

On tap...definitely a different beer. Poured a hazy, deep yellow color with a moderate white head. Aroma of funky brett, cobwebs, and some citrus from the hops. Some malt with caramel undertones upon entry, but that quickly turned to funky barnyard with some leathery flavor and light hops peaking through in the finish. Crisp and slightly tart. Doesn’t seem at all like a IIPA, but it was still nice.

On tap @ Boulder Strong Ale Fest poured a cloudy copper with a small lingering ivory head. Aromas of carmel, fruittiness, leather and light horseblanket. Palate was light bodied crisp lightly tart with a dry finish. Flavors of leather, carmel, horseblanket and light fruittiness with a crisp dry lightly tart finish.
