Beaver (588), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Apr 5, 2009 750 ml bottle, batch 08303. Pours a murky tea color with a monstrous frothy off white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet and sugary fruity citrus and melon hops with a little resin.
The flavor is subdued and a bit watery with some fruity hops and some resiny bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is light bodied and watery.
Overall, unbalanced towards the hops and pretty watery washed out mouthfeel, but I like the hop aromas and flavors.
kpresley77 (133), Jackson, Georgia, USA Mar 30, 2009 Bottle courtesy of beastiefan2k, pours hazy orange with thick white head. Aroma is citrus. First taste is citrus and spice bite. Some alcohol is noticible but not overpowering. The finish is citrus hops. Very good IPA. RSRIZZO (1345), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Mar 29, 2009 Color is a deep foggy orange brown. Carbonation is good with a thick head. Aroma is a nice hoppy scent. Taste is hoppy and spicy. Starting with a medium body it goes down crisp with a spicy feel. Finish jumps out rich with a citrus bite then a little malt, this is followed by hop spiciness and lemon zest. After taste is a mild bitterness with the citrus building up a bit. Its a little more citric then I like but still a good IPA. ditmier (1021), Boise, Idaho, USA Mar 29, 2009 Batch 08303 - Pours a murky amber with a massive tan head...aroma is sweet hop florals and candy malt...flavour is a decent balance of fruit, grain, caramel and hops...somehow isn’t sweet or bitter??...this brew as a bit of an identity crisis...is it IPA, DIPA or pale?...nowhere near as bitter as I’d expect, but still very tasty...WTF? SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Mar 29, 2009 does it matter that the trailer is actually a single on the label? .. nevermind .. has a good ole hoppy aroma... nice level of bitters .. easy to drink, and a well made brew, i like the zeus... pantanap (1323), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 28, 2009 750ml bottle from matt. thanks again... pours a dark copper brown with a frothy slightly off white head...
nose had lots of caramel and biscuity malt and not as hop dominant as one would expect. some floral hops due come into play as the beer warms...
lots of caramel malt and subdued citrus and pine hops. similarly to single wide, there’s not too much bitterness upfront but more so in the finish.
lush and creamy mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. this isn’t as hop forward as i would like but it’s still pretty nice.
7/4/7/4/14 WesKBob (317), Bethany, Oklahoma, USA Mar 26, 2009 Pours a hazy amber with a moderate off-white head. Good retention and lacing. Lots of pine and grapefruit hops in the aroma, along with just a hint of sweet citrus. Flavor is similar--nice and hoppy but still with just enough malt sweetness to keep it from being overpowering. A very, very nice beer. drjay44 (758), Salida, Colorado, USA Mar 23, 2009 750 ml. bottle. Batch 08303. Pours a thick head of great duration, with extensive lacing, over a slightly cloudy orangy brown body (SRM 10-15)....nose of pine, resin, caramel, pineapple with minimal floral....tastess initially of caramelly malts then the hop build occurs ending in a nicely balanced citrus (grapefruit) bitterness....mouth feel is medium with fairly high carbonation. As noted previously this is something more than an IPA and is quite delicious.
