bblack99 (196), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Dec 20, 2008 I am a big fan of a good IPA, and Boulevard came through with a nice offering in this Double-Wide in their Smokestack line.
Pours amber with an off-white head from the Smokestack 750mL bottle. Hoppy, as expected from an IPA. Malt and hops are the predominant flavors, but with a sweeter finish than many IPAs. IlanMan (816), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Dec 18, 2008 Pour was medium dark with a thick head. Very hoppy aroma with a little bit of herb. Has a sweet malty finish. Alcohol is well hidden with a medium body. amishcaravan (237), Winona, Minnesota, USA Dec 18, 2008 nice scent of sweet hops. long lasting head. taste is bitter with a nice hops finish. slightly bitter finish. I would probably purchase this again. JMerritt (1313), Macomb, Illinois, USA Dec 18, 2008 Hazy, deep red-amber with a giant, pillowy light tan head. Rich piney, grapefruit centric aroma with a touch of underlying caramel and toffee base. Flavor starts mildly bitter and moderately sweet, and quickly turns moderately-to-highly bitter, carrying through to the finish. Clean, slightly alcoholic finish, slightly medicinal. A bit one-dimensional, but delivers what it promises for an IPA. A nice touch of summer, enjoyed during a nasty December ice storm in Illinois. Kinz (2179), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Dec 15, 2008 VRBT. Medium amber. Biscuit malts and pine hop flavors. Aroma and taste were identical. Nice. Just not a lot to say here. Surprised at how many different hops were used considering I found it to be a bit of a one note IPA. But it was an enjoyable note. dwaggs2 (531), Lee’s Summit, Missouri, USA Dec 15, 2008 Bottle. Pours an amber orange color with plenty of head. Smells very sweet and hoppy. Smooth on the palate with a sweet hop bitter finish. Great IPA. jujubeast6000 (772), Houston, Texas, USA Dec 14, 2008 Reviewed 12/14/2008 (bottle batch#D8240):
Pours a reddish brown color body..Big creamy head, lasting, okay lacing. Piney, hoppy aroma. Bitter pungent nose with some sickly sweetness. Balanced taste, some grapefruity taste. Watery body, some carbonation. Not a strong flavor. More aroma than taste. ansermadide (496), Kyle, Texas, USA Dec 13, 2008 Sample at December 12, 2008 Beer Club meeting. Solid, no-see-through orange color. Nice head. Double IPA hop aroma did not let me down... Great flavor, good for the style. No unpleasant aftertaste, smooth finish. Extremely well done! I highly suggest anyone pick up a bottle of this if you see it on the shelf.
