cprochak (388), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 10, 2009 Batch 09135 Pours orange amber and retains cream head. In your face grapefruit. Little sweetness then an awesome bitterness with a citrus finish. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 10, 2009 courtesy of kiefdog.
pours hazy orange with thick beige head.
Aroma is malty, fruity and pine hops.
Flavor, fruits; white raisin and fig, malty mouthfeel followed by mouthful of fruits and light hops. eboats (887), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Oct 2, 2009 Big, brutal, and powerful. This is a hop loaded monster with thick syrupy caramel malts to add some balance though it still favors the power of the hop. Lots of fruit hop flavors with some alcohol burn. A cross between Great Divide Hercules and Boulevard’s Single Wide. tennisjoel (931), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA Oct 1, 2009 Pour is deep orange with a fun pillowy head. Very nice aroma of citrus, caramel, brown sugar, and bready yeast. Some barleywine characteristics. Surprisingly alcoholic flavored for only 8.5% ABV, yet not offputting by any means. That is my only complaint with this brew. Very well done. iabeerguy (158), Iowa, USA Sep 28, 2009 Pours a dark goldish-brown with a nice foamy head. Lots of lacing and the aroma is of hops and spices. Fruity/hoppy finish that goes down nice and smooth. A very good beer. churchill00 (154), Austin, Texas, USA Sep 22, 2009 Really quite smooth for an IPA. Spot on sweetness. I was expecting scorched earth, but this was downright silky. kiefdog (1534), Tampa, Florida, USA Sep 21, 2009 Bottle courtesy of ericandersnavy. Pours a hazy amber color with thin white head. Aroma is sweet and floral with notes of caramel, honey, pine, light floral esters. Flavor is sweet and floral with notes of light floral hoppiness, pine, grapefruit, caramel, honey. Generally medium body with a light floral hop finish. yalnikim (776), Wellington, New Zealand Sep 20, 2009 Tasted 1/09/2009. 750ml, cork and wire. The second day of an extended break in Sunshine Coast, Australia. I brought some gold with me because I knew I’d be struggling to find a hop, let alone a hoppy beer, on this trip. Hazy amber. Gorgeous aroma of peach, geranium, caramel and a bready slightly yeasty note. Big bitterness and strong hop flavour is very well balanced by a solid malt depth. Estery. earthy. Peppery. Complex. Delicious IPA going on Barleywine.
