grandridge (222), Port Clinton, Ohio, USA Nov 2, 2008 Thanks to pepsican for the bottle. Pours a deep amber/brown color with a large head. Aroma is fruit, pine, styrofoam with an overall sweetness. Flavor is good with a slight bitter finish but not overdone. Has hints of pine with a refreshing flavor that has a definite citrus undertone. danielcurtis81 (879), San Diego, California, USA Oct 31, 2008 Bottle, batch D8121. Pours almost red with some red orange edges. A bit cloudy with a frothy white head. Nice sweet floral aromas. Taste has a nice sweetness to it. Some good citrus (a late lemon bite), some pine too, vague hints of caramel, Definitely astringent and a good little bitter finish. Tasty! bhensonb (4189), Woodland, California, USA Oct 30, 2008 Bottle (c&c) from South Bay Drug. Batch 08121.Coppery amber color with a three-finger beige head. Moderate lacing. Very fruity aroma - not much malt. Medium plus body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is not extremely bitter. Fruity hops with enough caramel to arguably balance. Sort of oscillates between fruit and resin. Very smooth. A slight astringency. Almost crisp. The brewer apparently thinks oxidation won’t be a problem: ’’Keep some in the cellar ...’’ Since it’s B.C., wish I’d bought more so I could do that. Smoother than Fullers 1845, but it brought that one to mind. Brilliant. Seems more piney after awhile. ilovedarkbeer (1326), Dallas, Texas, USA Oct 26, 2008 Pours a nice copper amber color with a medium sized off white head. Nose is caramel malt, citrus, and hops. Taste is sweet and refreshing with lots of carbonation and a nice bite on the back end. Solid. bleeng (587), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA Oct 26, 2008 750. Very gold. Fluffy white head with a nice fresh hop nose. Taste-very fresh, citrusy, with a nice but not overwhelming hop profile. Easy and smooth drinker and a bit overcarbonated. Nice effort and one to look out for again. piscator34 (1121), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Oct 26, 2008 Bottled sample. Dark orange in colour with fairly strong carbonation. Aromas are of caramel malts, mild citrusy hops, and a bit of pine. The chewy malts are front and centre in the mouth, along with notes of candied orange, orchard fruit, and pepper-like spices. Not very bitter for an IPA, especially one that’s almost a IIPA in terms of alcohol strength. It needs more hops to balance things out. oakbluff (298), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Oct 26, 2008 Bottle shared via piscator. Pours a murky tangerine with huge head, three four fingers easy. Nose- very rich smelling, caramel just a little hop citrus. Taste- thick and chewy, big caramel sweetness. Hops are muted by the malt, not much of a piney or citrus feel to it. More spicy than bitter really. Low to medium carbonation and heavy bodied. DaSilky1 (1933), San Diego, California, USA Oct 24, 2008 Always interesting when we get some random midwest brewery randomly starting to be distributed here. SUPER lacy frothy, super microscopic bubbled light tan head on gleaming ultra-hazed burnt orange. Nose of sweet pine, overripe grapefruit, and fresh cut grass. Surprisingly dry flavors, clean as all hell, with SUPER fresh piney hop flavors. I love that spicy hop touch that we NEVER see here in the west coast. There’s a firm malt body but for whatever reason, it isnt sweet, it’s simply perfectly balancing so there really isn’t much bitterness...just piney hop flavors and a nuetral, deep, earthy balance. This is seriously a very very very well made IPA...probably one of my favorites as of late.
