Commercial Description:
Double-Wide I.P.A. uses Zeus and Magnum hops for both bittering and aroma with Ahtanum hops added for aroma. There are two additional dry hopping regimen, employing Ahtanum, Centennial and Chinook hops. The resulting beer is hop forward aroma, redolent of peach and apricot. The assertive flavor bursts with the citrus qualities of blood orange and lemon with a slight caramel malt backbone to balance the intense hop flavor. There is little restraint in the flavor of this beer; it is certainly not for the pedestrian palate.

750 mL bottle. A fairly strong aroma, not overly potent though, good amount of floral and grassy hop, with a decently prominent red berry malt, nothing wrong here. Dark orange in color, mostly opaque and cloudy, very large pour with an off-cream color head, good staying power, ok lacing, again no complaints. An almost suprisingly sweet backbone throughout for a single ipa with melon fruit, bitter hop takes over in the finish though of more of the herbal/grassy variety than citrus in my opinion, lingering aftertaste is almost there for me, but not quite, pretty full body, pretty thick feel, (could have been a little lighter). In the end, I’m very happy with this beer (Boulevard is continuing to impress) and there were just a few nick-picky things i have complaints about, but not many.

Batch 08095. Pours with a huge, rocky, off-white head. Hazy amber body with somee very small particles floating around. Great lacing. Flowery-citrus hops with a tad bit of spiceyness, and caramel in the aroma. Taste is caramely with light hops in the bak, but the finish is sweet overall, not bitter. This seems like a weak DIPA to me, not a regular IPA. Light bubbles.

quite a creamy version of the style--and it looks almost like a quad, with such a nice and rocky tan head; pine, tropical fruits and peels, smooth malt backing with sharp hops gives an interesting paradox for an interesting beer that is both calm and sweet, and intense and bitter--good balance, and ironically, wish it had less IBUs.

Bottled from Bev4Less. Dark hazy amber color upon pouring. Sweet aroma with some citric hoppiness. Somewhat fruity. Fairly spicy hoppiness. Balanced with some sweetness and malts. A little richer and more roasty than your standard SoCal IPA.

Bottle from HyVee in Coralville. Meaty hops aroma with floral and citrus. Slight caramel aromas. rich thick head with dark orange semi-transparent body. Flavor is strong hops, some woody smokiness and a little salt. Malt is lightly evident. Nicely balanced between sweet and dry with an almost chocolaty flavor on the finish. I really like the flavors overall as they appeal to my particuliar tastes, with a good lingering finish. Palate is solid without being too heavy. Very good.

750 ml bottle from Lukas Liquor Superstore. Pours a very hazy reddish auburn with a big, creamy, foamy off-white head. It sticks around forever and leaves a nice lacing. Lots of aroma. Sweet caramel malts with lots of citrus hop smells. Some orange along with a peachyness. Just a hint of alcohol smell. Flavor is very sweet and citrusy. The alcohol hint resembles a liqorice flavor. Medium bodied. Finishes dry with a lingering bitterness that is not overpowering whatsoever. Very nice. Warming on the way down. Overall, not the hoppiest double IPA, but a very nice change of pace from the bigger IPAs I’m used to. It reminds me more of a Belgian style IPA in that its complexity lies in more than just the hops.
