durhambeer (1186), Durham, USA Jun 14, 2008 750 ml bottle. This is a hop monster. Surprisingly dark copper/amber pour with medium off white head. Loads of hops and dark citrus on the nose. Some fruitiness, but pine/resin hitting hard, too. Intense. Lots of malt backing up this beer to balance the hops a bit. If you are big into hops, this is your beer. Otherwise, depending on your preference, it could be too much. madcow75 (425), Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA Jun 11, 2008 750 ml bottle. Cork was a little troublesome, but eventually gave way. Pours beautiful copper/amber and hazy. Thick off white head. Aromas of peach and dried apricot. Some earthy malt as well. More peach and apricot in the flavor with a good malt presence. Finish with some lemon rind and decent bitterness. Medium bodied. Good brew, well worth searching for. I enjoy this brewery. Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jun 9, 2008 In short: An intense superior resinous IPA.
How: Bottle 750ml, consumed a week after receiving it from mreush, thanks a lot Matt!!!
The look: Almost clear copper body with a large off-white head with good retention.
In long: Nose is intensely citrus fruits and resinous. Taste is more of the same. Very fruity (citrus fruits, apricots, and more) but also pine cone juice and all that held together by sticky caramel. Intense and flavourful. Like a less resinous version of my beloved Corne Du Diable. Alcohol is unfortunately a little apparent. This is really a very big IPA and wanted a representative name and Fat-Ass IPA wasn’t much of a selling name. swanmann (304), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Jun 7, 2008 Heavenly hops throughout this beer. Poured rich, jewel-like opaque amber with lots of sticky tan cotton candy head. Aroma of acidic citrus and pine. It’s got perfect IPA bitterness with high alcohol and sugar. Bravo. illinismitty (1790), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jun 6, 2008 Updated: Jun 9, 2008Bottle from Friar Tuck in Savoy, IL, thanks to my Mom. Pour hazy amber with a huge retentive light beige head. Nice aroma of fresh hops that give off notes of sweet exotic fruit. Medium bodied with a light earthy texture. Initial flavor of caramel and toffee malts that transitions to a huge bitterness mid palate, that is lemony and grapefruity. Clingy and resiny hoppiness on the finish with some slight alcohol warmth, and perhaps a bit too much citrus like acidity. This is a very nice offering from Boulevard. Kudos to them for creating a product for us beer geeks. The reason I did not give this a higher overall impression rating is that the hop schedule lacks some complexity and cohesiveness to take it to the next level. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Jun 6, 2008 750ml bottle-@Hoboken#1-pours a tan head and hazy amber color. Aroma is sweet citrus/pine, secondary medium malt. Taste is sweet citrus/pine, secondary medium malt, some alcohol warming as it goes down.
Rastacouere (5551), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jun 5, 2008 Objectively speaking:
A generous IPA that goes beyond the All-hops norm.
I like:
Healthy medium-full body without stickiness. Cleansing carbonation. Excellent white head. Fair hop complexity though not particularly focused nor straightforward. Not overly bitter. Fairly fruity and exotic feel.
I dislike:
Clean yeastiness, but perhaps a bit too present in the flavour profile to ensure the hop ultimate revelations.
jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 4, 2008 2008-05-31. Dark hazy orange body with a modest beige head. (3+) Modest hoppy aroma is a touch muted but is rather nice, orange notes. Similar flavour, oranges and tangerine hops, light pleasant bitterness throughout. (7+) Smooth average palate is almost creamy (3+) Pretty nice, I like everything it offers but would like just a little more of everything. Bottle, Mondial, Montreal, 3T
