Commercial Description:
Double-Wide I.P.A. uses Columbus and Magnum hops for both bittering and aroma with Chinook hops added in the whirlpool. It is dry hopped with generous amounts of Cascade, Bravo, Centennial, and Chinook hops. The resulting beer has a hop forward aroma, redolent of peach and apricot. The assertive flavor bursts with the citrus qualities of blood orange and lemon with a slight caramel malt backbone to balance the intense hop flavor. There is little restraint in the flavor of this beer; it is certainly not for the pedestrian palate.

Pretty decent IPA. Nice opaque orange color with off white head. Aroma is of bitter hops and citrus. Very average IPA taste, with a bitter hop finish featuring notes of honey. Would drink again.

Well, I got this beer from a guy at work who bought it for me on trip to Missouri. Aroma is pretty lacking, in fact, it’s hard to get much from it at all. Flavor is quite a bit better, plenty of bitter hops. The flavor is not as big as I would like it to be for a DIPA, however. It’s not bad, I won’t seek it out again though.

Bottle: The aroma has lots of citrus, yeast, citrus hops, and light fruit. It pours a hazy amber with some very fine sediment and a large soapy off-white head that leaves behind clumpy lacing. The flavor starts with lots of citrus fruit. There is a weird fruitiness in the background that doesn’t work for me. The finish has moderate citrus hops with some light caramel. The off-fruitiness seems to fade slightly as it warms, but it’s still unpleasant to me. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

corked 750 from mruesch, thanks Matt! poured a slightly hazy orange-amber with a good looking off-white head. aroma was of fresh citrus and a hint of pine. flavor was mildly bitter with some sweet caramel lurking. more balanced than hoppy for a double IPA, but still very enjoyable.

Big thanks to mreusch for this gem. Pours a clear copper with nice sized frothy off-white head. Citrus and pine nose with some sweetness from the malt. Flavor is hoppy yet mellowed by the sweet malt with some oak hints. Medium body with a clean and dry finish.

Bottle at Extreme Beerfest 2008 (Crescent Moon): Fresh aroma. Dry flavor...not too sweet. Golden to amber color.

From a 750 ml bottle purchased at Lukas Liquors in KC. The body is a hazy medium amber with a light khaki head. The aroma has some grapefruit and sweat. There is also some leather. The taste is light grapefruit with some cinnamon toast. The finish is decently toasted. It’s a good effort for Boulevard, I look forward to more of their experiments.

Bottle. Copper orange pour with light beige head. Aroma is sweet, with nice hop overtones, maybe mixed with pine and some caramel? Flavor is very smooth.... not strong on the hops. Fairly citrusy and malty. Great beer.
