Hank1980 (734), Athens, Georgia, USA Jul 31, 2009 Bottle. Poured copper cloudy with a huge soapy beige head. Aroma of big citrus hops and light toasted malt. Taste is also very hoppy, with a light malt sweetness, and a bready malt backing. Finish is nice and bitter. Mouth is average bodied and little sticky. Overall, a very nice IPA/IIPA. Boulevard is really making some nice brews. hopdoge (26), Colorado, USA Jul 31, 2009 (bottle) Pours a clear, dark yellow color. Off -white head - spare lacing. Hoppy aroma with hints of citrus (orange). Slick texture, average duration, moderately bitter finish. satan165 (542), River Grove, Illinois, USA Jul 29, 2009 malt oriented aroma, flavor is raw pure toffee with all sweetness canceled out by hops. huge lacing, dark hazy amber. malt is nearly astringent yet satisfying in its potency. unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Jul 25, 2009 Poured a cloudy orangish amber body with a nice two finger tight white head. Aroma of hops, citrus, and more hops. Taste is of hops, malt, caramel, and some citrus. This medium to full bodied brew is fairly well balanced and quite drinkable.
Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Jul 22, 2009 750 ml bottle from By the Bottle. Pours copper with a thin white head and solid lacing. Aroma is all citrus hops: grapefruit, orange, light lemon and just the barest hint of a biscuit malt lurks. Flavor is a hop explosion, mostly orange and lemon with a more solid malt backing than you’d guess from the aroma. Solid beer, but not one of the better IIPAs I had on this long festival weekend. cking (1012), North Canton, Ohio, USA Jul 20, 2009 Very malty with some faint hops. Multi grain bread and caramel predominantly. Amber body that sparkles, 1/2" light tan head and some great lacing. Malty, sweet and mildly bitter. Floral hops with a zesty quality. Bran cereal and toffee. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jul 18, 2009 A golden amber IPA with a thick light moka head. A pleasant c-hops in aroma, with biscuitty malt and treavle. In mouth, a smooth IPA with floral piney hops, light grapefruit, warming alcohol. well balanced. Bottle at Mondiale 2009. daleharshman (181), San Diego, California, USA Jul 13, 2009 750 bottle (batch D8121) from South Bay Drugs ($6.99). Are there any other corked and caged IPA’s out there?? Pours a murky dark brown-orange (I guess this is what is called "copper"). The two fingers of off-white head has good staying power and leaves nice lacing. Nose is predominately citrusy hops with grapefruit standing out the most but there is also pine. I don’t get much of the peach and apricot that the official description describes. Taste starts with a light malty sweetness but quickly moves into hoppy-bitter territory with grapefruit flavors again standing out along with some noticeable alcohol. There is not as much lingering bitterness as many others in this style.
