This is a very nice DIPA that is much like the sample bottle, however with this bottle the hops were a tad more subdued than what I remember...but even more integrated into the malt. Really enjoyed this. 8,5,8,4,16 (4.1)
Original Rating Pre-release sample bottle via theisti...thanks bro. Pours a gorgeous rich golden amber with thick off-tan head that dissipates into swirls of tiny islands. Great lacing. Nose of ripe oranges, peaches and honeydew melons...and very nice hop and sweet malt backbone to balance it out. Really smells delicious. Mouthfeel is creamy and medium bodied. All the same as in the nose, but the hops are very present and accounted for, but again...well balanced. Finish is hoppy, but turns to a nice syrupy-like malt finish. Man, I like this sample bottle. Can’t wait to try the final product...which theisti graciously sent to me. OldMrCrow (1206), Seattle, Washington, USA

IPA? At 8.5% this is definitely pushing IIPA territory, but whatever. Big, big apricot nectar nose, a little bit of orange. Amber pour, nice big head. This is a heck of a good IIPA, sweet and plenty malt-forward and more in the (IIPA version of) two-hearted vein than what we’re used to out here on this coast. Lots of toasted / caramelized grapefruit in the flavor, definitely one of the sweeter IPAs I’ve ever had, and definitely very nice and yet it totally avoids that sticky-sweet IIPA trap.

Poured a hazy copper with a creamy off-white head with some lasting and leaving lacing behind. Aroma of citrus hops and floral backed with a slight pine and malt background. Caramel malts in the flavor with an even mix of hops. Medium to full body that is sweet up front yet has moderate bitterness in the ending. Very nice. SDalkoholic (1198), Chula Vista, California, USA

Pours with a giant serving of white pillow of foaming while the ale is a muddy amber color. The aroma is a bready malt nose with a dosage of British styled hop variation. I taste a rye bready flavor as well as a honey oat or sweet wheat that really is different that I am accustomed too but again there is a English hop background that balances this beer out real smoothly . jcr (1195), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 2, 2009 750 ml. Giant, frothy, off-white head, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy, deep amber body. The aroma is malty with notes of toasted grain, cookie, caramel. Hints of resin and grapefruit. the flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, moderately acidic and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet, moderately bitter, dry. The bitterness and alcohol lingers. Medium to full body with a sticky texture and lively carbonation. Balance tilted toward malts. Reminds me a little of Alpha King though not as complex nor with the separation of hops and malts in the aroma and flavor. RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA

Flavor is not quite as hoppy as I expected, the malt coming out in force with an overtone of citrus. Nicely carbonated with good body and great lacing. Very good. dm9831 (1168), Monee, Illinois, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 8, 2008 Beer pours a beautiful orange amber color with fantastic head and lacing that looked almost computer animated silk bubble screen down the glass. Aroma of centennial hops. Light caramel malts, little sweetness and huge hop bitterness on the back end. Maybe a little thin. I don’t know, maybe it was just my mood, but it didn’t wow me even though the beer had no obvious flaws.
