Very well balanced and drinkable. Grapefruit, citrus, herbal hops, caramel malt, biscuits, sweet candy sugar, earthiness, and berries. Complex and the bitterness is certainly not the main focus of this beer. Tasty! xmarcnolanx (808), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA

Vadalia onion dankness dominates the nose, with more than a slight touch of alcohol. Taste is very sweet, almost sucrose sweet, but not enough malt to cover up the alcohol. 837316

Aroma is orange and sweet malt. Mostly just oranges.
Taste is like Tang- orange juice, touch watery.
Very, very nice. Lingers well, but not too much.
I am much more impressed.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 31, 2009 Bottle. Poured copper cloudy with a huge soapy beige head. Aroma of big citrus hops and light toasted malt. Taste is also very hoppy, with a light malt sweetness, and a bready malt backing. Finish is nice and bitter. Mouth is average bodied and little sticky. Overall, a very nice IPA/IIPA. Boulevard is really making some nice brews. alexanderj (2294), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 23, 2008 Bottle; really nice aroma; pine and citrus predominantly; some fruit and caramel. Really good aroma for the style. Color was a hazy bit of orange; creamy, off white head. Flavor was really good; somewhere between an IPA and DIPA. Good caramel backbone, that provided some balance. Fruity hops with pine and citrus. Alcohol well hidden. Not too overly bitter in the bite at the end. After taste was far from great. Overall it was a good to very good example of the style. valpoaj (363), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 19, 2008 Murky copper pour with an obscene, billowing off-white head...tons of lacing to go with it! Aroma is very pleasant, if not subdued to many of its IIPA counterparts. There’s a good deal of piney hops, some citrus accents (lemon and apricot seem predominant), and sweet malts...more malt in the aroma than the average IPA on the market, and the overall character is mellow. Flavor hits up front with lots of hops...mainly citrusy, with grapefruit, peach, apricot and lemon standing out...a nice array! There is a healthy dose of malt in this to offset the hops...very nicely done! Bit of roasted flavor near the end, and this finishes extremely smooth on the palate with the telltale IPA bitterness, but not overly bitter. Love the malt backbone and the palate on this beer...great effort by Boulevard! Oh yeah, awesome bottle too...more bottles should have trailers and tornadoes on them! nearbeer (1887), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Huge head finally settles to a 2 inch mound, atop an orange-copper body. Big hop-tilted aroma of earthy tea leaf, caramel-orange, and resin. Medium body is slightly watery, lightly carbonated, and dryish. Taste is orange-grapefruit blend, caramel, resin, and tea leaf with some lightly peppery oak. nightrider (390), encinitas, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 19, 2009 Pour revealed an hazy golden orange hue with a nice white head. Sweet floral citrus aromas. Medium full bodied in your mouth. Good solid bitter hops but balanced well with caramel sugary maltiness. Flavors of lemon and grapefruit kick in. Good long nice finish. Easy drinking. Will sample more of these for sure. Gregis (1136), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 31, 2007 Sampled @ the Boulevard Tasting hosted by Lukas Wine Bar, 5/31/07. Pours a deep hazy burnt orange with a frothy, tan head. The aroma is a strong citric hoppiness backed by spruce. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied and surprisingly smooth with a bitter finish. Despite the hop-forward aroma, this is a surprisingly well-balanced beer. Sweet caramel malts dance in-step with the hops to create a very tasty and eminently drinkable DIPA. When this is released this fall, I’m sure that it will sell quite well. I’d love to see this on tap at some of the local KC watering holes.
