irishsnake (353), Oakland, California, USA Aug 6, 2006 beer pours an impenetrable jet-black with a tan head that doesn’t retain well and leaves average lace. sharply roasty nose has an almost esprosso character with perhaps a hint of smokiness. flavor starts with an almost acrid coffee roastiness, but mellows a bit, allowing for some softer chocolate notes to come out. while this is a roasty beer, it doesn’t have the kick one should expect from a dry stout. almost too malty (relative to the style). still, a decent if fairly simple drinking stout. smhncabot (310), Cabot, Arkansas, USA Aug 3, 2006 Pours black with medium tan head which dissapates quickly. Aroma is roasted malt some coffee tones. Flavor is straight roasted malt almost expresso-ee. Smooth though a little to carbonated. Finishes quite dry. overall ok dry stout that is thirst quenching. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA Aug 2, 2006 Pours a deep dark brown, with a very small tan head. Dark wheat aroma, with some roasted coffee and chocolate, flavor has lots of caramel with just a bit of acrid smokiness, dry finish like an ashtray. Kind of a boring stout. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA Jul 28, 2006 Dark brown, nearly no head at all. Some roasty-caramel-malted aroma - very mild and not very striking or unique. It is very dry indeed! Almost ashy with dryness. Somewhat bitter, not-so-smooth finish. notalush (2627), Denver, Colorado, USA Jul 28, 2006 Bottle from santa - smokey, roasty aroma, with background chocolate malt - fairly dry, with a hard water and mineral quality that makes it seem pretty authentic - bitter espresso and a hint of creamy sweetness beneath the otherwise overall dry character - pretty decent. Tmoney99 (4652), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jul 2, 2006 Bottle. Poured dark brown color with a large frothy brown head that diminished slowly with good lacing. Moderate smoky roasted malt aroma. Medium body with smooth dry texture. Medium roasted bitter flavor with a light sweet finish of average duration. Solid drinkable brew. Ungstrup (14724), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 24, 2006 A hazy deep red-brown beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of berries. The flavor is only slightly roasted combined with a light note of berries, and the body is thin. I find it boring, would like more power in the flavor. Papsoe (14613), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 21, 2006 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Beautiful, clear dark red mahogany with a small, off-white head. Aroma of hard roasted malt. Rather light-bodied with a high carbonation - too fizzy actually. Burned, malty accents with a rather light, bitter finish. Not really an impressive effort. 200606
