Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Feb 4, 2006 Thin brown head of fine bubbles. Reduces quickly. Light carbonation. Light chocolate, roasted grains and a hint of coffee. Dark brownish black in color. Thin dry, chalky body. Kind of salty also. Distinct grilled terreaki steak flavor. More roasted grains and coffee. Little bit of bitterness and a light lingering chocolate flavor. Finish is pretty clean though. Very tingly in the mouth. Slight tart finish. An ok stout. Kind of weak though. NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA Feb 2, 2006 I found this while cleaning up some packing materials I thought were empty. So thanks to the fine RBerian that sent it!

Aroma is sharp with hops and slightly stale malts. Deep black in color with a fast fading tan head that leaves just a thin film of a head when settled. Fore is thin and watery and almost has a bit of lager taste to it. Some fairly tasty roasted malts follow and you get hints of coffee and some fruity notes. Finish is crisp and again lager like with more of that fruitiness. roder60 (1019), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 20, 2006 Poured a dark brown color with a creamy froathy layer of light brown head. Aroma is molases, roasted malts, and slight hops. Flavor is rather light and watery, a bit bittersweet but rather bland in flavor. howie (549), DeForest, Wisconsin, USA Jan 3, 2006 Stale roasty aroma, dry roasty flavors. Nothing offensive, just an ordinary and average dry stout. MullMan (1080), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA Dec 28, 2005 thanks to EricMC83 for this in trade. blackish brown opaque & murky color, ruby chestnut at edges. ahort lasting small foamy dark tan head. roasted toffee and coffee malt aroma. mouthfeel is super watery. flavor is faint dry roasted malt, but very thin flavor too. high carbonation. barleyPops (1079), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA Dec 26, 2005 12 oz. bottle picked up at John’s in IC. I liked this one, even though it didn’t have any distinquishing qualities. poured a very dark brown with no light penatrating through my snifter. mild aromas and flavors of chocolate, coffee and some peaty smoke. finish was equally dry and sweet. didn’t have an aboundance of carbonation which suits me just fine. could easily make for a nice session stout. grant (792), Long Beach, CA/Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Dec 22, 2005 Nice charred brown color with medium brown head. Strong coffee and licorice aroma with small amount of dark chocolate. Flavor is milky and full, with nice savory smoke notes. Pretty heavy on the patent malt. Overall quite tasty. Finishes pretty non-dry for a dry stout. Ends with some acridity and a bit much carbonation. zombywoof (355), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Dec 19, 2005 Updated: Dec 24, 2005This is a medium body stout with a mild aroma of coffee. There’s a light sweet chocolate and licorice hints with an earthy lively smokey finish. I like the old time depression era look of the label.
