kramer (2407), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 16, 2005 12 oz bottle via ericmc83. Dark mahogany pour, almost black. Very small thin and quickly fading head. Nose is black patant malt with hints of coffee. Light roast flavor with a slight sourness on the finish. Fairly thin and rather fizzy on the tongue despite bottle conditioning makes the mouthfeel a little distracting. Nothing really wrong with this, but Dry Stout usually isn’t the most mind blowing of styles. This probably would be good on nitro. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA Dec 1, 2005 Dark brown color, small tan head that had a short life .The aroma was roasty malt with a nice hint of hops and maybe a little grapefruit, chocolate and coffee. Taste is chocolate and mabye smokey malts. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA Nov 27, 2005 Courtesy of beerhandy. Pours dark transparent brown with decent tan head. Aroma is coffee up front slight hint of chioclate. Flavor the same with a little roasted grain. Tad thin for style. Strykzone (1459), Wood River, Illinois, USA Nov 20, 2005 Subdued aroma featued chocolate and coffee. Pleasant but thin. Very dark pouring beer. Light was visible through it but the light had to be bright. Very little head, also. More was expected. Light lacing on the glass throughout. The beer was quite bitter and dry throughout but a very nice drinking beer. Palate was smooth. A very mild stout, perhaps closer to a porter in many ways. PattyBoy (302), North Liberty, Iowa, USA Nov 8, 2005 Pours black with no head. Aroma of molasses, a little roast. Flavor is more molasses, roasts, and a hint o chocolate. Slightly watery, slightly bitter. Fair. newtrip (55), USA Nov 7, 2005 Poured with soft carbonation, small creamy light brown head that was mostly diminishing. Body is very dark, can’t even see through it. Nose is of molasses, dark chocolate, coffee. Initial flavor is sweet and lightly bitter. Finish is long and dry and reminds me of a very strong coffee and caramel. Very drinkable. SledgeJr (2957), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Sep 27, 2005 On tap at the Crescent Moon. Pours a deep brown to black withan off-white head. Sublime roasted aroma. Smooth mild palate. This is so awesomely drinkable that I could drink a bathtub full of this stout. It has a thick body and mouthfeel, but at the same time, drinks like water. An unusually pleasant stout. hopdog (5535), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 23, 2005 Bottle shared courtesy of weeare138. Poured a dark black color (with red at the edges) and a very small sized off white head. Aromas and tastes of chocolate, roasted malts and light dark fruits.
