3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 heemer77 (4792) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - NOV 10, 2003
UPDATED: DEC 22, 2004 Re-rate- Had again on tap a couple years later. This is still too thin and not up to the Bully standard. Otherwise, a decent malt and smoky character. Original rating - Had this on tap when it first came out. Generally I am a fan of Boulevard, but I thought this was a weak offering. Way too much coffee flavor. Also, I thought this had a little skunky taste to it.

Beautiful cascading head into blackness, settling into a solid beige head. Only a light aroma. Wood-chippy java-ice cream flavors. Pretty nice dessert!

Poured an opaque black color with a small, light tan head that left no lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast, nuts, smoke, and light chocolate. Taste was chocolate, some roasted, and light toasted malt, with a faint tartness, almost metallic taste in the end. A little disappointing.

Draft on nitro at elliott bay pizza. Pours black with a dense, surging, creamy tan head. Big roasty coffee nose with baker’s chocolate under that. Creamy body, flattish, not too chalky for nitro. Nice dark chocolate mid palate with a chocolatey finish.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 blankboy (4437) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 18, 2010
Bottle [12oz] shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a very dark brown with an average size frothy beige head. Mild aroma of roasted malt, light green hops and a hint of peat or smoke. Dry flavour of roasted malt along with some chocolate, coffee and a slightly roasty dry finish. Average bodied. Nothing great, just a pretty good Stout.

Dark brown with a fizzy head. Soft chocolate aroma. Tastes of roasted grain and bitter coffee with a bright palate and some citrus notes.

Bottle courtesy of Mike at Bon Vivant. Black bodied with a sm all tan head. Nose is smokey wood, roasted malt and light coffee. Taste is coffee, some dark chocolate notes, roasted malt and light smokiness. Body is creamy and smooth with light carbonation. Finishes with mainly roasted malt, and coffee, but has some light caramel notes and smokiness.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 badgerben (4116) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - APR 7, 2005
Black color with a medium tan head that disintegrates fairly quickly. A hint of malt in the aroma. The taste is more smoky than I would expect in a stout. Slightly burnt roasts and chocolate as well.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 PorterPounder (4107) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAY 1, 2006
Old Chicago Pizza - Roseville, Mn. 12 oz bottle. Dark black pour, thickish mocha colored pour, decent lacing. Aroma has some day old coffee notes. Flavor has the same coffee essence, hints of smoke, touch of licorice. Good example of the dry stout style. Decently thick mouthfeel - some velvety smoothess - not a whole lot of carbonation. Good way to finish lunch.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 5000 (4104) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - NOV 20, 2004
Bottle pours black, small off-white fizzly head that quickly dissipates, with spotty lacing. Bittersweet chocolate & burnt malts on the nose. Seems dry and chalky. Yep, semi-sweet chocolate and roasted malts on the tongue. Seems true to style. Good body, medium mouthfeel. Finishes dry, chalky, with that bittersweet chocolate. Not bad! Thanks goes out to heemer77 for the trade!
