Commercial Description:
Boulevard Dry Stout is velvety black and perfectly opaque, and topped by a thick, creamy head. This very drinkable, delicate beer is a delightful harmony of smoky roasted flavors with a silky smooth finish. Now available in bottles.

Bottle. Dark brown color with a brown head. Light malt and caramel flavors that are smooth but lack the roasted malts and robust flavors. Rating from notes.

Darkness in it’s fullest expression matches the look of this brew, but the head is not as impressive, slim and soon gone. Aroma: slick, viscous, dark, molasses-like, slightly syrupy...but doesn’t stand out in the right way. Lays kind of flat, after a while. Taste: underwhelming, flinty, dark, but lacks in texture, carbonation, mouthfeel, body. Does have a fuller body, but not as full as it ought to, and lacks considerably in character. Blah. Blech. Hooey. Dry, yes, but seriously shy in flavor. Maybe it’s easy to drink, but easy to like, if you’re like me and you yearn for something significant in flavor. I wanted to like it, but there’s no way around this one...sorry...

12 ounce bottle brought to me by Grant from Kansas. Aroma isnt overly aggressive. It does have some roasted burnt malts in the nose. Some light grapefruity hops are also there. Lightly transparent dark mahogany color with a smallish khaki colored head.Light roasted maltiness to start. Light chocolate notes in the middle. Becomes thin with some light light hop bitterness in the end. Very thin and pretty boring.

12 oz. bottle, minimal aroma of malt and coffee, smokey charcoal flavor, not my favorite stout

Bottle. Lovely roast and dark chocolate nose with light berries in the nose, hinting at mocha but not showing. Pitch pour with the usual gorgeous pillowy tan head. Taste is very, very dry with medium-strength burned notes and light nuttiness, not ashy but still evocative. Carbonation is strong (and somewhat excessive) in such a watery body, otherwise smooth feel throughout. Yeast has some nice mineral tones but comes off as a little too homebrewy. A little better than a standard session.

This dry stout does pretty much everything it’s supposed to. Charcoal brown body with a thin tan head yields a dry roasted malt aroma. Flavor is classic dry roast (acidic and woody) with chocolate and a tangy bite. Solid.

I found this while cleaning up some packing materials I thought were empty. So thanks to the fine RBerian that sent it! <P> Aroma is sharp with hops and slightly stale malts. Deep black in color with a fast fading tan head that leaves just a thin film of a head when settled. Fore is thin and watery and almost has a bit of lager taste to it. Some fairly tasty roasted malts follow and you get hints of coffee and some fruity notes. Finish is crisp and again lager like with more of that fruitiness.

Dark prune with a ruby shine. Caulky and chunky, grayish tan foam. Aroma is mostly airy with notes of roasted barley. Firm black malts, leaf and soil underpinnings. Fairly meaty, as well, with a dash of buttered fudge and scorched sugar. Fizzy, expansive, though mostly prickly. Cotton and unsweetened chocolate flavors. Chalky black malts provides some balance to the bittersweetness, but are kept in check by the buttery fudge and earthiness. Juicy yet earthy hop flavors and plum fruitiness pushes through the delicate caramel and pale malt notes while the airiness cuts the sweetness and fluffs up the rich malts. Notably dry and leafy conclusion with a balanced flash of roasted barley and dried plums. Earthy, unsweetened chocolate and cotton tones linger on the palate with a sprinkle of their hallmark yeast character. Nice array of flavors, but pretty thin.
