3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
I now of course can’t even remember where I had this on tap...but I remember being stoked about the light puckery hints at barnyard, bits of sour peachy fruits, and straw. Must’ve been in Seattle...

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A reddish brown beer with a small white head. The aroma is tart fruit and yeast. The flavor is super tart, underripe berries and cherry, with wood and malt backing. Very sour, very delicious.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
6oz pour at Smoke and Barrel. Pours a murky amber with some spitty cream colored head. Nose is musty, some cooked greens, some sour mash, some berry, some vinegar, mild funk. Flavor is very tart, berry, some wood pulp, grapefruit meat. Tart finish. Not bad, maybe a bit young.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap @ What the Funk Denver 2014. Copper appearance with an off white head. Dark berry / cherry fruit in the nose. Some acetic notes as well. Definitely a fair amount of vinegar / acetic acid in the flavor. Moderately tart. Nice woody notes. Black cherry flavor. Drinks pretty good. I probably like this better than some of the Love Child releases.

2.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Draught at EBF, 3/22/14
White head disappears as it hits the glass and a slightly hazed, light amber colored liquid is left.
Lactic sourness in the nose is promising. Only a faint notion of acetic acid, thankfully, contributing a touch of spoiled fruitiness to mix with the cheesey lactic notes. Some brett helps brighten things and as the finish arrives, a multitude of basement notes emerge. Musty wool, horseblanket, fresh lettuce, celery and raw meat to name a few. Somewhat light on the strength, probably due to the low carbonation, but what’s there is very interesting and complex.
Unfortunately, it’s incredibly overattenuated in the mouth. Beyond bone dry, with plenty of acidic astringency and a papery, almost oxidized texture. Low, loose carbonation contributes a watery feel and though the flavors that are here are quite nice (plenty of horsey, cheesey, fruity bacterial notes), it’s just got no body whatsoever. Like some of the French red wines I’ve had that are intentionally brett-infected, though probably even less body and sweetness than those...Definitely needs a young, sweeter beer blended in.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at the 2014 Secret Stash Bash (Atlanta).
Like most beers of this style, I find it hard to get past the aroma. In this case, a load of soft fruits in vinegar (which I really dislike).
The flavor is also fruity but the vinegar recedes excepting a strong and welcome tartness.
Feel: medium-light body with proper carbonation.
Clear amber with a semi-durable head.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
tepid hazy orange amber. Dusty apple and hay nose, plenty of grass. Lime and tea front palate, very bright before oaky mid, vanilla hints before cherry juice acids drown the finish in a sticky, sweet metallic blur.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Max’s Sour Fest. Pours almost clear copper with almost no head. Tastes like very sour cheese, yeast, green apple. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like sour apple, cheese, and bready yeast light cherry.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at Max’s Sour Fest. Pours mostly clear amber with just a trace of head. Aroma is toasted and cereal malts, light sour fruit, lemon zest, light floral notes, and light caramel. Flavor is sour fruit esters forward with a semisweet malt base before drying out with some floral notes, light oak, and faint tartness; dry, oaky finish. Light/medium body and medium carbonation.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at rrbf. Pours reddish brown with a small fizzy white head. Nose is woody and funky upfront, light cherry skins. Flavor is similar to a flemish red, lightly malty, but more funk than malt in my opinion. Ends with a light funky cherry and woody note.
