Boulevard Ginger-Lemon Radler is a zesty, refreshing take on the tradition of mixing beer with soda or lemonade to create a light, thirst-quenching beverage ideal for warm weather. Radler (literally “cyclist,”) takes its name from active German sportsmen of a hundred years ago, but our version tastes just as good even if you do nothing more strenuous than lifting it to your lips.

Comes out of the can hazy solar yellow with a thick, if effervescent, snow-white head. Lemon dominates the aroma, letting a little malt peep through. Smells more like lemonade than beer. More malt comes forth in the otherwise lemonade-like and somewhat tart flavor so you know you’re drinking beer and not an offering from a kid’s neighborhood stand. That is one thing I can never resist, a kid selling lemonade. Mouthfeel features weak body and not much fizz. Still, a good one for a hot day - or to bring a little summer into your fall, or winter.

Sampled at GABF 2015 in Denver. In the tasting glass this was hazy yellow. White foam. Nose of ginger and lemon. Light body. Flavor is lomon ginger nothing more. Surprisingly it tasted good.

Cloudy pale yellow with dissipating head. Smells like ginger lemonade. Mainly tastes like ginger lemonade. No surprises here. Ginger flavor lingers long after a sip. Still, it’s a nice and refreshing replacement for a soda or lemonade.

From a can I’m not sure if this is beer, ginger ale or lemon aide. Very good carbonation but there is a slight hop bitterness in there that I don’t really care for. Yes, this is probably why it rates so high on RB for a fruit beer, that little bit of hop bitterness that is so prevalent in most of the higher rated ales, regardless of he style. Goodly amount of ginger in there, perhaps that is what I detect as a bitterness. Smell is a little farmy. Pretty good overall.

This poured a cloudy yellow color with a large white head. The aroma contains plenty of lemon and ginger. The flavor is very carbonated and refreshing. There is nothing complex about this beer and my rating will indeed be higher on a hot summer day in Atlanta than it would on a cold winter night but that is the point right?

Can at Winking Lizard. Cloudy yellow color with a thin white head that evaporates quickly to a sparse outer ring. Spotty lacing. Aroma of lemons, wheat and malt. Light-bodied with a tart lemony character with notes of herbal wheat and malt in the background. The finish is fruity with a ginger and lemon aftertaste. Decent overall.

UPDATED: SEP 7, 2015 Twelve ounce can from Boulevard summer sampler 12 pack purchased at Jeff’s Marathon, tasted on September 6, 2015. Cloudy yellow hue with a bit of green, tart lemon nose, highly carbonated lemon/ginger flavor. Better than a lot of other examples of the style but not really my thing.
