COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Harvest Dance Wheat Wine is a celebration of John Barleycorn’s cousin wheat, the great staple crop of Middle America. Wheat wines are a somewhat recent stylistic development, akin to barleywines in strength, but brewed with a large portion of wheat malt, which provides a soft mouthfeel to balance the big body of these warming brews. We add a generous helping of Hallertau and Citra hops, and age the beer on both French and American oak, resulting in a beer that opens up with a warming burst of tropical fruit flavors, adding subtle Sauvignon Blanc notes before rounding slowly to a dry, oaky finish. This is a perfect beer for sharing with friends and family as we gather together for the fall and winter holidays. Pairs well with aged cheeses or seasonal squash and pumpkin dishes.

Pours a semi-cloudy dark gold with vigorous carbonation and a billowing effervescent off white head. Citrus and pine aroma. Sweet toasted malt flavor along with grapefruit, coriander and an oily texture. Pretty damn good!

poured from 750 into a tulip. Pours a solid gold color with a very foamy head. Very aromatic with aromas of creams, cloves, spice, and some wheaty rye aromas. Full bodied with a very good feel. Balanced with a good amount of spice flavors along with cloves and creams. A really good beer. One of Boulevard’s best efforts and I don’t think that this would need any real age on it. It’s just so good right now.

Location: 750 ml bottle from Colonial Wine and Spirits, 5/21/12, Batch 2-2011

Aroma: The nose has lots of wheat, malt, and yeast, with some floral, fruit, spice, and earth notes too
Appearance: It pours an orange color with a rather large foamy white head and fairly heavy lacing
Flavor: Tastes mid-sweet, wheaty/yeasty, light-mid spice, and a mid-plus floral/earth hop bitterness
Palate: The body is medium-full, it has a smooth, somewhat slick finish, and the alcohol is pretty well-hidden
Overall Impression: I found this one to be pretty good. It had a nice mix of flavors that all worked together pretty well, a good feel, and drank rather easily (perhaps a little too easily) for a beer over 9%. This was another nice offering from Boulevard.

Bottle. Huge carbonation, lots of foam, creamy. Belgian yeast, pineapple, oak/vanila. Dry finish. Not a fan of a style, but this one was good.

Great label, vibrant orange colour and a stiff egg-white head. Strong orange peel bitterness, white grape and some jasmin on the nose with a good hit of wine-yeasty dryness. A good mix of sweetness and acidity with a puffy mouthfeel. A light dry/bitter finish. Incredibly smooth.

Poured from 750ml to tulip. After 10 months in the bottle, served cold, this thing pours a massive off white, loose head - great lacing, subtle beading. The nose is reminiscent of a farmhouse ale - estery, clove, black pepper, cereal, dead hops. The taste takes a similar direction. Very well rounded and easy to approach. The freshness of the wheat has succumb to a yeasty tartness. Quite good and very different than its former self.

Poured from a corked and caged 750 ml bottle into a brandy snifter. Appearance is a hazy yellow to gold with an enormous white head of foam and great retention. Aroma is a heavily wheat influenced malt profile with a slight tanginess to it. The hops really take a backseat in this beer, as I think I would prefer in a barley wine anyhow. Taste is just mildly sweet, but mostly yeasty and estery. Not much in the way of a hop profile in the taste either. Bitterness is definitely at a minimum. Sticky mouthfeel. Long, wheaty finish. Really enjoyed this beer. Thanks Weihenheizen for sharing.

[Bottle] After my experience with Rye on Rye, my expectations had been tempered for this beer. However, it didn’t take long after opening to realize that this beer was a winner. Pours deep amber with a big, off-white head. Aroma is very fruity upon opening, and then melds into more yeast, banana, and pineapple. Citra hops are definitely one of my favorite. Taste has moderate alcohol, light fruitiness, and a big wheat presence. A little thin, good finish length though. Overall, citra hops and wheat helped make this beer a big winner for me. Nicely done, Boulevard.

I’m definitely getting the fruit, whether its pineapple or orange depends on what you’ve had before. I was sorry the wheat didn’t come out as much as I would’ve liked but it had a nice yeasty character.

Not typically a big fan of wheat beers, but this is a pleasant exception. Well balanced flavor and aroma with a surprising complexity.
