3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 bblack99 (518) - Kansas City, USA - JUN 22, 2011
Tiny sample at 2011 Parkville Brewfest on 4/30. You crazy kids keep adding festival brews!
Not too dissimilar from it’s unfiltered parent brew, cloudy gold/straw color with a thin white head (kinda hard to form in a 3-4oz sampler) with a faint nose of green wheat. Flavor and finish are kicked up from the original unfiltered with a sharp hint of lemongrass (or just lemons) as the citrusy hops. Finish is more bitter than the original, as expected, but not what you would call a seriously hopped pale ale...just a nice twist on the usual wheaty summer classic for Kansas Citians.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 AxDxMx (7) - Missouri, USA - JAN 22, 2012 does not count
Tasted at the Boulevard Tasting Room after a tour on December 17. I’m not a huge fan of the Boulevard Wheat, but this is a brew I can get behind. The extra hoppiness in this gives it a bigger flavor, while not going overboard on the bitterness. I can’t wait until Boulevard actually releases this beer.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 theisti (2441) - Leawood, Kansas, USA - DEC 5, 2011
Multiple samples at the Boulevard tasting room, post tour. Tour guide was good enough to supply me with a full pour! Pour is a cloudy hazed yellowish white with a smallish white head. Aroma is bright tropical pineapple fruit hop, orange fruit sweetness, along with the malt wheat, finishing with further sweetness. Taste is the bright tropical fruit hops, orange citrus fruit, both of which are balanced nicely with the wheat and malt. The finish reintroduces the sweetness of the nose. Fresh and vibrant, really nicely balanced. Palate is light to medium bodied, nice scrubbing active carbonation and a dry finish. High level of drink-ability. Nice, fun, alive interpretation of a classic.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 GeneralGao (3545) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - DEC 5, 2011
Draft. Poured a hazy light orange color. The head was sticky and white with great retention and lacing. Light flowery hop, baking spices, and wheat in the nose. Light bodied and slightly sweet. Flower blossom up front with notes of vanilla cake and subdued butter in the middle. A bit of caramel emerged after the finish. Nice.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Terminus (2617) - Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA - NOV 24, 2011
tap at brewery-this was the only beer they had on tap that i had never had. pours hazy dark yellow light orange with a soapy fluffy white head. nose is very floral like a flower garden lite bright citrus lovely flavors are lite wheat grains with a splash of hops not much in terms of bitterness but must have had a ton of dry hopping. really crisp and clean with some tartness on the finish. a very tasty experiment that more breweries need to make a standard (as in replace their wheat beer).
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 DrinkEmUpJones (675) - Georgia, USA - OCT 26, 2011
Very cloudy lemon yellow with a green tint. Medium aroma: lemon, wheat, a little muskly. Medium palate, a little flat but not bad, wheat & lemon. Not great, but as far as options go in Muscatine, IA, not bad at all

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 ekoerper (369) - Iowa, USA - OCT 1, 2011
Tap at Iowa City Brewfest. Gorgeous fresh hop aroma, lightly grassy and full of fresh citrus hops, light wheat malt character, just fantastic. Pours cloudy straw/golden color with a thick white head, good retention and plenty of lacing. Flavor just as impressive as the nose; great fresh hops, cut hay, citrus, wheat, very crisp throughout, faint tartness in the background. Sticky, fresh floral hops are really well done in this brew. Light body, medium/high carbonation. Incredibly flavorful and drinkable for a 5% abv beer, this will certainly be one of my go-to beers if/when it comes out in bottles, delicious!

On tap at blvd tap room. A solid hopped wheat with a bit more lemon citrus flavor than regular wheat. I would prefer this to wheat most any day.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Indra (2361) - Overland Park, Kansas, USA - JUN 20, 2011
On draft at the KCBM 2011 Homebrew Competition. Aroma holds no real surprises, with plenty of citric, fruity hop, lemon, faintly grainy, wheat malt and very slight esters in the background. Thoroughly cloudy golden color, with a fine, lasting head, really doesn’t appear to be any different than the standard Wheat. Flavor is decently hopped as well, again with an overt citrus character from beginning to end, paired with a distinctly wheaty malt base, this showing through primarily at the finish, which is dry and fairly refreshing. Some lingering leafy hop character here as well. Bitterness is fairly light, surprisingly. Body is light-medium, palate is creamy and effervescent. Nicely balanced and refreshing. Heck of a lot better and more interesting than Boulevard Wheat, but I am likely just burned out on that stuff.
