COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Irish Ale, Boulevard’s spring seasonal beer, is our Midwestern tribute to the legendary red ales of old Ireland. Our recipe combines six kinds of pale and roasted barley malts to provide a rich, toasty flavor and tawny reddish hue. Whole hops are added to enhance the beer’s complexity and to produce a pleasing balance.

Deep mahogan color with light head. Floral hops with some sweet cherry and citrus notes. Mouthfeel is quite rich with fine bubbles. Toffee, and chocolate are predominate but an evergreen hop quality shows on the mid and finish. Refreshing, yet lingering finish.

Pours dark amber, creamy white head. Malty with caramel, toffee, and toasty. Hops are slightly spicy and mild. I thought this was very good, balanced, and tasty.

Brownish-red color with minimal head. Aroma is warm, malty with toasted caramel and dark friut. Flavor is very malty with toasted caramel, milk cream, dry bakers chocolate underpinning, and a nice balancing bitterness.

UPDATED: JUL 11, 2010 Toasted malt, earthy aroma. Prominent roasted malt with spice, fruit, and caramel notes. Moderate hop presence. Dry crisp finish. Excellent Irish Ale.

This beer surprised me. Nice peaty, earthy flavors. Very well balanced and full of flavor.

This brew poured up a dark copper-colored body with a hearty tan-colored head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aromas of caramel, toasted malts/oats, bread (or biscuits?). Flavors are very well balanced of sweet malts, toasted oats, dark fruits (plums), and light alcohol taste near the finish. Medium-bodied with a very dry finish with a lingering sweet, malty taste.

Hands down an all time favorite from Boulevard. Consistently perfect from year to year... perfect blend of caramel/bread malt and citrus hops. Exceptionally good on tap.

Bottle. Malty and toasted aroma, same with the taste. Taste of toffee, coffee and chocolate. A bit of carbonation to it, and a nice aftertaste. This is a surprisingly good beer, wasn’t expecting it to be this tasty - shows what happens when you doubt Boulevard. 5.8% alcohol.

Pours a nice deep copper color with a full off-white head. There is a nice, complex roasted malt flavor that adds a wonderful smoky touch, but is kept in check by a fair amount of hops. I like scotch, and my favorite is single malt Islay, which has a deep smoky peat flavor, so that probably explains why I like this brew so much. I would like to pair this brew with a Welsh rabbit dish that uses a good sharp cheddar cheese and crusty bread. Stilton cheese would also go nicely with this brew.
