3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Shared 750 ml. bottle after sampling #3. Poured to snifters with a deeper, hazed orangy hue, a bubbly layer of off white head foam, and spotty cling to the lacing. The nose was light, but cleaner yeasty funk than #3, so no horse blanket, but more fruitiness, sourness, and vinous/grape qualities. More spritz & effervescence was noticed, and the finish was pleasantly dry.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
750mL bottle, pours a hazy orangey amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of sour red fruits, a little vinegar, wood tannins and fairly prominent bourbon barrel presence. Flavour brings out a bizarre combination of sour and bourbon qualities- donít think Iíve ever had a bourbon barrel aged sour- with notes of vinegar, soured fruits, light acidity, and then the bourbon shows face. Not the best combination of flavours, as I donít think the bourbon complements the sour qualities. Quite boozy and difficult to drink very quickly. Decent stuff.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Fresh 062312 50-60į
Pour is hazed, vibrant reddish-amber with a nice fairly tightly structured very light khaki head dissipating quickly to a cap. This is a really vibrant, beautiful beer.
Nose isnít assertive but is very intriguing. Up front, citric sourness dominates leading into wine layers, followed by wild and barrel dustiness. Soft bourbon tones come in as it warms, leading to moments of bourbon bubblegum late in each serving.
Taste is as exciting as the appearance - plenty of sourness, wild complexities swirl and open the senses up for a mild, creamy bourbon barrel finish that rolls along into the aftertaste and leaves a warming character in the gut. There is clearly two ends to the spectrum here below 60į, but they mesh beautifully and compliment each other exceptionally well. Alcohol is not present in the taste or mouth. Layers of bourbon are constantly revealed following the sour layer dissipating on the palette.
Overall, I love this. Very interesting. The bourbon barrel is such an awesome compliment to the wild sourness.
