COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sour characteristics come to the fore in this release, foreshadowed by the tart, winey aroma. Notes of cherry, chocolate, olive brine, and leather give way to a subtle hint of funk and a dry, clean finish.

750ml bottle shared by Greg, thanks! Pours an unclear orange with a decent off white head and lacing, the aroma is full of fruit notes that have a strong funky background at the same time, the flavor has a good amount of funk and sourness on the front end with a finish of fruity, really nice bubbly mouthfeel, good stuff.

UPDATED: JUN 8, 2013 750ml bottle. Nice sour peach sour tones. Really pleasant sour barrel tones, leathery. Really has a steady sour edge which I hadnít anticipated. Pretty solid sour. Sticky barrel tones under pleasant peachy sour. Cool beer, probably sweated harder not at a tasting Iím sure.

750 shared at Caponeís with a generous benefactor. Pours turbid orangy dark strawish colored with off-white head. Nose is tart, lactic, fruity, funky. Tastes complex, fruity, with a lot of caramel flavor, lactic sourness, and a tart, crisp finish. This is a sour done right.

750mL bottle, pours a hazy orangey amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of sour red fruits, a little vinegar, wood tannins and fairly prominent bourbon barrel presence. Flavour brings out a bizarre combination of sour and bourbon qualities- donít think Iíve ever had a bourbon barrel aged sour- with notes of vinegar, soured fruits, light acidity, and then the bourbon shows face. Not the best combination of flavours, as I donít think the bourbon complements the sour qualities. Quite boozy and difficult to drink very quickly. Decent stuff.

Good balanced sour. Tart nose, slight body, some fruit, but mostly funk. Thin body, dry puckering finish.

Fresh 062312 50-60į

Pour is hazed, vibrant reddish-amber with a nice fairly tightly structured very light khaki head dissipating quickly to a cap. This is a really vibrant, beautiful beer.

Nose isnít assertive but is very intriguing. Up front, citric sourness dominates leading into wine layers, followed by wild and barrel dustiness. Soft bourbon tones come in as it warms, leading to moments of bourbon bubblegum late in each serving.

Taste is as exciting as the appearance - plenty of sourness, wild complexities swirl and open the senses up for a mild, creamy bourbon barrel finish that rolls along into the aftertaste and leaves a warming character in the gut. There is clearly two ends to the spectrum here below 60į, but they mesh beautifully and compliment each other exceptionally well. Alcohol is not present in the taste or mouth. Layers of bourbon are constantly revealed following the sour layer dissipating on the palette.

Overall, I love this. Very interesting. The bourbon barrel is such an awesome compliment to the wild sourness.

Purposefully waited to rate this until I could make it my 2200th rating. Sampled at Big Beers Belgians & Barleywines fest in Vail 2013. Murky burnt orange with a thin cap head. Has some settled particles on the bottom of the glass that doesnít look like classic yeast...almost looks like tiny pencil shavings. Intense sour aroma of bactillic wood, port wine, and acidic fruit. Flavor is delightful with a fruity tone thatís kinda all over the place, with a certain brightness of acidic zest, port barrel wood, and a bretty dry finish. Really delightful and full and complex.
