COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sour characteristics come to the fore in this release, foreshadowed by the tart, winey aroma. Notes of cherry, chocolate, olive brine, and leather give way to a subtle hint of funk and a dry, clean finish.

Hazy caramel colored with a small dirty off white head. Aroma of cherries, leather, funk, and wine. Taste is really tart and funky. Very dry, medium bodied, and below average carbonation. Very nice.

Fresh 062312 50-60°

Pour is hazed, vibrant reddish-amber with a nice fairly tightly structured very light khaki head dissipating quickly to a cap. This is a really vibrant, beautiful beer.

Nose isn’t assertive but is very intriguing. Up front, citric sourness dominates leading into wine layers, followed by wild and barrel dustiness. Soft bourbon tones come in as it warms, leading to moments of bourbon bubblegum late in each serving.

Taste is as exciting as the appearance - plenty of sourness, wild complexities swirl and open the senses up for a mild, creamy bourbon barrel finish that rolls along into the aftertaste and leaves a warming character in the gut. There is clearly two ends to the spectrum here below 60°, but they mesh beautifully and compliment each other exceptionally well. Alcohol is not present in the taste or mouth. Layers of bourbon are constantly revealed following the sour layer dissipating on the palette.

Overall, I love this. Very interesting. The bourbon barrel is such an awesome compliment to the wild sourness.

One year bottle pours burnt orange amber with a rim of khaki fizz. The aroma is funky and tart with some grainy sweetness. The flavor starts with a robust barrel note and warming grain but it quickly melds into a lemony tart sour with a very light Belgian must. It has a nice fitting sweetness that masks the intensity of the tartness and brings out some of the light fruitiness. It is low carbonation and finishes with a lingering tart citrus, light grapefruit and more so lemon, with smooth amber malts and a touch of barrel.

Pours a hazy brownish red with little to no head. Aroma of tart cherries, raspberries, oak, vanilla and funk. Flavor of tart cherry pie, moderate sourness, other berries and lactic acid.

Bottle thanks to me! Pours deep, cloudy amber with beige, somewhat fizzy head. Aroma is very nice, notes of some funk, acidic, cherry with light hints of bourbon and extremely subtle wood. Flavor is fairly complex, much the same as aroma and sour. Light-medium body with a light but yet fizzy carbonation. Overall, for $20 I better like this!!!

750 ml bottle. Pours a glowing reddish orange with a medium, off white head. Aroma of raspberries and mildly tart cherries. Medium funk, mild vinegar, some apparent oak notes. A mild wine quality as well. Flavor is subtle sourness, nuanced fruit and vinuous notes. The funk starts to come out as it opens up. Light, fruity berry tartness. Mild leather and oak. As well as notes of tart cherry. Body is on the light side of medium. Finishes tart with mild vinnegar notes. Pretty nice wild ale.

750ml bottle from The Map Room. Pours a hazy amber-orange colored body with an inch thick, dense, creamy and frothy, tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is big funky Brett with a really nice, tart cherry sourness and some vinous characteristics. Some lactose acidity, a bit of a dry wood, a light bourbon note, and a lightly sweetened caramel malt and dark toffee creeps in there too as this warms a bit. Flavor is similar. Tart cherries with just a touch of sweetness up front as well as a slightly acidic lactose, lots of Brett funk, and vinous notes before some woodiness comes in along with a light, smooth caramel maltiness. A bit of a leathery note and dark toffee towards the end as the wood carries this into the finish where a light bourbon comes out and this ends dry, clean, tart, funky, and slightly acidic with a touch of smooth maltiness before leaving a lengthy aftertaste. Light body and a soft, moderately lively carbonation. Overall, a really nice wild ale. Lots of tart cherries and sour, slightly acidic lactose notes with a nice wood presence, a light bourbon, and a subtle malt backing that is lightly sweetened and smooth. Big fan of this one.

I am usually not much on wild/sour ales but I am glad I tried this one. Pours an orange color with a small head. The aroma is funky with some barnyard notes. The taste was medium sour, cherry, leather. Finishes clean.

Purposefully waited to rate this until I could make it my 2200th rating. Sampled at Big Beers Belgians & Barleywines fest in Vail 2013. Murky burnt orange with a thin cap head. Has some settled particles on the bottom of the glass that doesn’t look like classic yeast...almost looks like tiny pencil shavings. Intense sour aroma of bactillic wood, port wine, and acidic fruit. Flavor is delightful with a fruity tone that’s kinda all over the place, with a certain brightness of acidic zest, port barrel wood, and a bretty dry finish. Really delightful and full and complex.

750ml Bottle A - Pours a reddish amber with a pinkish head. S - Red fruits and barnyard funk. T - Sour/tart cherries, funk, oak notes of vanilla and caramel. M - Medium bodied. Lively carbonation. Dry brett finish. O - Would have liked a little bit more bourbon, but I might be alone. That said, liked it alot.
