Parkville 2011. I think I may have gotten the last pour off the keg. The beer is not super sour, more in the traditional Flanders style with cherry sweetness and an underlying earthy, dirty, sourness. Its thick and complicated with lots of earthy yet berry flavors. Lots of thick, bready malts rolled in there as well. The light sourness is a nice complement.

Draft sample (or maybe a few) at St. Louis Microfest 2011. This made the VIP tent worth it. Pours a deep, hazy brown color with no head whatsoever. Looks like an old barleywine. Aroma of bourbon, brown sugar, vanilla, oak, sour berry fruits, plums, chocolate, and toffee. The flavor shows awesome balance between the barrel and sour fruity notes- more sour berries, lemon juice, balsamic vinegar, caramel malts, bourbon, oak, vanilla, and some earthy notes. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a tart, funky, acidic mouthfeel. Lemon juice lingers in the aftertaste but that barrel sweetness never goes away completely. This might be the only beer I tried twice that day. Awesome sour.

Rating #2500 and what a beer to have for it. Sampled at St. Louis Microfest 2011 & what welcome surprise to have for it. Pretty excited to see what Boulevard delivered for the first sour ale from them I know about. Pours very murky brown with absolutely not head at all. The aroma has a mix of sourness, bourbon, caramel malt, toffee, richness and a coffee-like presence - not what I expected, but it was interesting to say the least. The body was medium/light with a crispness to it and almost no carbonation to be found. The sourness that was blended with the aroma is front and center in the taste with prominent acidic and vinegar traits and a distinct lemon presence - it is a very sour beer. However, underneath the sourness is dark caramel, molasses, brown sugar, dates, raisins and toffee. The sourness masks some of that though. The finish is sour as well, but has a smoothness to it. Someone else trying it may have sum it up well saying it tasted like a mix of an old ale and a sour ale. Excellent beer to say the least & it showed no alcohol. Glad to try this one.
