Sour characteristics come to the fore in this release, foreshadowed by the tart, winey aroma. Notes of cherry, chocolate, olive brine, and leather give way to a subtle hint of funk and a dry, clean finish.

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, thanks Josh! Clear ruby red pour with thin to no head, aroma has notes of vinegar, lemon, hints of caramel, toffee, touch of red ripe fruit with some cherry, touch of alcohol and vanilla notes as well, touch of honey. Taste is a nice mix of bourbon, vanilla, some vinegar and lemon notes, touch of bread, hints of caramel, slight red ripe fruits with a hint of bourbon, finishing fairly sweet, slightly sour and dry.

Hazy amber in color with a tall off-white head and high carbonation. An interesting nose. Raspberry, lemon, grass, and leather. A bit of oak and red wine vinegar, maybe some alcohol. The flavor is somewhat acetic and extremely dry. Lots of leather and oak, a bit of grass/straw, and some red wine vinegar. Lightly fruity with some lemon zest and berry notes. As with the nose, a little bit of alcohol heat. Just okay in my book.

Bottle. Some talk about the high price but its worth it. Poured a murky brown color with a smaller white head. Aroma was fruits, sour notes, very malty and funky. Flavor was very sour. I loved the fruits and spice that balanced with the funk and sour notes. Sour, sour finish. Amazing beer

Reddish color with an offwhite head. Aroma of cherries steeped in an old balsamic vinegar and some new leather shoes. Flavor is lightly sour, some of the leather comes through in the flavor and some cherries as well.

Wow was this sour!!!! I didn't get much funk, but wow was it sour. This was a 25 bottle. It was nice to try, but I wouldn't pay that kind of money for it again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. I hope it tastes better than the deScription: olives and leather?!?! Dirty red-copper with minimal head. Strong wine-vinegar aroma. Tastes like the deScription. Not sure that I have ever tasted pickles or olives in a beer. Cool malt undertones but sensing that the emperor is a little underdressed.

Bottle courtesy of travlr. Hazy orange brown pour with a thin tan head. Light bourbon aroma with lots of tart oaky notes. Dry woody lemony tart flavor. Dry bitter and tannic. Slight popcorn note on the fnish.

750mL thanks to Travlr! Pours a full haze, deeper orange tea. Weaker off white foam. Nose is sharp red wine, acetic, saltwater. Taste is tangy, orange, butter, tangy orange. Some sharper ruby red grapefruit juice and lime. Sharp, tangy, not too acetic. Salty all the way. Butter/diacetyl is a little distracting. As it warms, it cleans up. Salty, balsamic, red wine tannic and sharp. Bourbon barrel is a bit of a mismatch but the beer is very nice underneath. Very good.

Bottle courtesy of RobertDale, thank you sir! Hazy caramel color, large tan head that settles quickly. Aroma of sour plums, grapes. Taste is peaches in white wine, apricot. Very nice.
