COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sour characteristics come to the fore in this release, foreshadowed by the tart, winey aroma. Notes of cherry, chocolate, olive brine, and leather give way to a subtle hint of funk and a dry, clean finish.

Bottle from Gomer’s Lee’s Summit. Aroma is light but tartness and a hint of leathery funk are detectable. Small white head disappears quickly leaving only tiny bubbles around the rim of a cloudy burnt orange color. Sour (but not too sour) from the start, with nice tart fruit elements throughout- apricot, cherry, and lemon (maybe that’s just the sour) become more vinuous at the finish. The leather mixes with the oak barrel and there is a hint of bourbon, which i could do without but it didn’t bother me either. Altho the head is gone the carbonation is still evident and changes from tingly to lightly creamy at the end. Finish is perfectly dry to leave you wanting another drink and it’s not so sour that you feel you need a break. Altho the reviewer below is not really a fan, i loved Collage/Conflux and i love this! I keep telling myself i won’t buy any more but when i come across it i just can’t say no. Amazing beer and wonderful blending by the folks at Boulevard- possibly the best they’ve done yet (but Saison Brett is hard to top.) All of my favorite characteristics without anything overdone. I don’t think this is one to age since it is so good now but i may save back a bottle or two to see what happens. If i can hold off on drinking it!

UPDATED: JUL 6, 2012 bottle. early pour is mostly clear, amber in color, with a small tan-colored ring of a head. tart, dried fruit with soft acetic acid and ethyl acetate, light touches of solvent and mild bourbon and tannic oak note that has flashes of red wine. medium body with light and fizzy carbonation, aggressive acid and mild brown malt and bourbon and solvent notes lingering late. much more integrated than the Deschutes/HOTD Collage, but similarly messy and direction-less, which I guess is what you get when you go for "something sour in a spirit barrel".

tulip. beige color kind of cloudy tall head may be about three fingers but die very quick. Earthy aromas, cilantro, cranberries, and biscuit dough. Taste is very heavy sour up front, a lot of dark fruit syndromes, with infestations of yeast and some mint hints. Dry finish

750 bottle thanks to Specs downtown Houston. Hazy, cloudy, dark amber with little head. Nice citric funky nose. Flavors overwhelming with the first taste, with lots of citrus, acidity, then toning down on the end with a faint sweetness. Can’t find the barrel or alcohol in this-hard to believe this rolls in close to 10%. It’s delicious and so easy to drink. Top quality stuff here-well done.

Bottle pours deep ruby/orange with no head retention, well carbonated. Smell is very fruity, minimal oak presence. Cherry. Taste is very tart, pretty dry and coats the mouth. Puckering effect. Very nice.

750 ml corked and caged bottle given to me by beastiefan2k. Batch 2012-1 best by date 03-2014. The pour is a hazed golden ruby with a well formed one inch light tan head. The aroma is citrusy tart sour, along with a touch of acetic vinegar, and then a resin woodiness in the back. This was initially pretty tart, though this passed quickly to a really gentle, tart/sour softness. Pretty nose. The taste is the sour tart of the nose, showing more cherry than citrus. The wood is in the middle and finish, and carries the aftertaste with some pleasant mustiness. The citrus also reappears in the aftertaste, almost like a lemongrass. Nice integration on this as well. The palate is spritzy carbonation, a medium to light body, and lingering wood and light vanilla cherry sweetness. Overall a well made Flanders style sour. I liked it. Thanks Eugene.

Pours hazy brown with small white head. Aroma was a lot of wood and funk with cherries, dried fruit and some bourbon. Flavor was quite sour with tart cherries more up front and the wood and funk more in the background. It’s got a nice dry finish with lingering sourness.
