COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sour characteristics come to the fore in this release, foreshadowed by the tart, winey aroma. Notes of cherry, chocolate, olive brine, and leather give way to a subtle hint of funk and a dry, clean finish.

Dry brett finish. O - Would have liked a little bit more bourbon, but I might be alone. That said, liked it alot.

Thanks to tastybeer for splitting this with b3shine and myself at a local tasting. I cant wait to open my Love Child #3 to see how it stacks up. Id never expect Boulevard to be a potential sour powerhouse even though their Smokestack line is often stellar. This proves me wrong.

Aroma / Appearance - The bronze caramel body fizzes in place. Cherry pie, heavy sweetness, and a vinous aspect are maybe a bit too much like a liquid version of Twizzlers. Otherwise it is works well.

Flavor / Palate - Bready and warm the mouthfeel is chewy. Leathery edges stick to the throat along with a sour feel that emerges after a while. It might not have the sharpness of an all out sour ale but the balance makes it easy to drink. Id enjoy a bottle by myself if I had a few hours to spare.

750ml bottle dated best by 03-2014 poured into Boulevard tulip glass. Batch 2012-1. Aroma: oak, vanilla, bourbon, dark fruits, cherries, bread, earthy, basement aromas, bit of funkiness. reminds me Bourbon Barrel Quads aromas (most likely the same oak barrels) and also vaguely familiar to New Belgiums La Folie. Appearance: brown with a slight reddish tint. hardly no head formed. very thin looking when swirling glass. hazy. no visible bubbles rising. Taste: medium sweet, heavy sour, extremely light bitterness Palate: finish is very tart but fades quickly. mild bitterness and medium sour linger. light body and thin texture. slick mouthfeel. Carbonation is soft but still pleasing to the palate. Overall: This is a very drinkable sour/wild ale. The tartness of it is perfect to me. I struggled to finish a bottle of La Folie due to the sourness but this goes down easily. The 9.6% ABV is well hidden. Looking forward to future releases in the Love Child series despite the higher price compared to other Smokestack bottles.

SUPERB! Dominant lactic sourness with a light, backdrop of bourbon inspired vanilla. 9.6% abv is undetectable.

Bottle... This beer rocks! Hazy burnt-caramel ale with no head. The aroma offers caramel, toasted barley, an assortment of berries and lactic acid. Full-bodied with stinging carbonation. Super-tart, fruity, black cherry and sour cherry flavor. Finishes, tart, bready and lightly bitter. Bottle generously shared by biggsbowler! Rufus? Randall? Hes the man!

Bottle at Dans house. Pour is hazy peach in appearance with a small off-white head. Cherry, peach skin, tannin, fruit pit, light cheese, spice, barnyard, and leather in the aroma. Taste is super sour, heavy acetone, light vinegar, peach, tannin, oak, and yeast with a long-lasting acidic finish. Light body with medium carbonation. Nice sour!

Enjoyable clean flavor. Sour was powerful, but not overpowering. All around wonderful!
