Sour characteristics come to the fore in this release, foreshadowed by the tart, winey aroma. Notes of cherry, chocolate, olive brine, and leather give way to a subtle hint of funk and a dry, clean finish.

Enjoyable clean flavor. Sour was powerful, but not overpowering. All around wonderful!

Bottle at THE Sour and Saison Tasting, London. Pours hazy, brown-gold with a light, white foam head. Some sweet, bready malts in the nose, light tang. Medium sweet flavor with some vinegar character, light leather and ripe berries. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Moderately dry to finish with light warmth, some more leather, brown bread, light vinegar, berries. Good, biting tartness in here, with some lovely nuance.

Sample at Falling Rock Beer Tasting with Dr. Bill on 10/13/2012. This beer pours a cloudy orange color with a medium thin off-white head that recedes quickly. Strings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of grapes and bready malt. Medium body with a vinous character and notes of crackery malt and touches of hops. The finish is fruity with an earthy malt aftertaste. Good overall.

Bottle poured into glass. Good bit of sour funk in this one. Nice balance between the fruit characteristics and the tartness. Easily drinkable and the ABV is masked extremely well. Very good sour!

750ml bottle shared by Greg, thanks! Pours an unclear orange with a decent off white head and lacing, the aroma is full of fruit notes that have a strong funky background at the same time, the flavor has a good amount of funk and sourness on the front end with a finish of fruity, really nice bubbly mouthfeel, good stuff.

750 ml bottle to tulip (shared by tastybeer). Looks good; a cloudy amberish brown with foamy off-white head. Smells solid; tart and funky with notes of cherry. Tastes like it smells with some tannic notes. Good beer!

Pours copper brown with thin fizz. Picking up more of the lacto than brett on this one. Great sour cherry notes dominate. Not getting any perceptible bourbon. Puckeringly sour. Dryish finish.

Backlog. Small taste of a 750 ml bottle last Saturday night. Funky, sour and fruity with a light mustiness. Held up pretty well.

Location: 750 ml bottle at Flying Saucer-Little Rock, 6/20/12

Aroma: The nose has lots of sour/tart berries, with some brett/funk, yeast, and wood
Appearance: It pours a cloudy dark orange-amber color with minimal head, and no lacing
Flavor: Tastes much like you’d expect from the nose: sour and tart with the same notes coming though
Palate: The body of this one is fairly light, it is quite drinkable, and the alcohol is rather well-hidden
Overall Impression: I thought that this was a really good sour. Nicely made, and hits all the right marks for the style. Good job here by Boulevard. I’m glad I saw this one up on the New Arrivals - Bottles section, as it was pretty easy to miss and based on the limited number of reviews, I doubt it is something that would have stumbled over again anytime soon if I had missed it. I found this one to be quite good.
