COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boulevard’s Love Child Series of "wild" ales are barrel-aged with such boisterous cultures as Lactobaccillus and Brettanomyces. These wayward offspring can prove so complex that we employ gauges on the label to convey the intensity of three key personality traits, Funk, Sour, and Fruit, presenting a picture of the ale at the time it was released. It will change as it ages, but don’t we all? Oak barrels were used to age the majority of beer used for Love Child No. 3—with beer aged from 16 months to nearly six years. Another portion of the beer spent 11 months in stainless tanks, souring on Lactobacillus. While very tart, the sourness is short-lived and the beer finishes dry with a trace of oak. Bottle during RBSG 2014 Grand Tasting at Schlafly Tap Room. Dark honey brown color. Aromas of funk, tart fuirt, vinegar, oak. Tastes of vinegar, dark fruit, funk, light whiskey. Medium body with a dry finish. Pretty good with a year on it though I think I liked it more fresh.

Bottle shared at Manny G’s - picked up in MA. Pours unclear orange-gold with a creamy, off-white head. The aroma holds tangy berries, citrus, faint leather. Light-medium sweet flavor with citric acidity, some alcohol warmth, wood, berries, lemon. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Nice bracing sour bite to finish, lots of citric tang, lemon, squash, tangerine, some berries, wood. Solid overall. Great depth.

Bottle thanks to Leighton. It pours deep amber with a minimal beige head. The nose is fresh, fruity, tangy, acidic, raspberry, strawberry and sherbet. The taste is crisp, tart, acidic, sherbet, grapefruit, wet leaf, candy, Granny Smith apple and melon with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty alright.

Really good. Aroma of sour fruit with a hint of bourbon. Caramel color with a hint of red. Watery palate bit still full and sharp on the tongue. Great blend of flavors that culminated into a sour bit of pleasure. Taste of fruits, mild grains and whiskey but all subtle and well blended. Hops were not a player here, which worked out fine. A must try if you can find one.

Fantastic Sour! Clear copper. Cherries, lacto, funk, vanilla, oak in the nose. Nice tart taste, brett funk, with a stone fruit sweetness. Warming alcohol presence, just a touch of bourbon presence. Dry finish, slick mouthfeel. Tasty!

Bottle at home. Has a cloudy deep nut brown colour with a small, beige head. Aroma of oak, forest floor, leather and horse. Has a sour and a little sweet flavour with tones of oak, wood, heather and some alcohol in the background. Slick mouth feel, and has a light to medium berry bitterness. A well-balanced and nice sour ale but the bourbon is not very present.

Excessivement lactique et surette avec un noyau de cerise dominant et peu de tranchant herbacé ou amérisant pour contraster. Solide mais manque de raffinement pour être de classe mondiale.

Terrific beer. Fruity aroma, almost burns the nostrils. Tastes like popsicles from summers past. Funky sour fruit flavors, sour yeast cultures and a fiiine bret finish. On top of that oak fills the mouth and the tart reaches the nose. Alcohol warms the chest.

My Bottom Line:
This lacto-heavy Sour Ale also pleases through its dryness and fruity simplicity.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the pale amber.
-You could say the flavor profile is a tad linear.
-The fruitiness is definitely cherry-like.
-The wooden barrel component appears underneath the sourness.

Bottle.
