Boulevard’s Love Child Series of "wild" ales are barrel-aged with such boisterous cultures as Lactobaccillus and Brettanomyces. These wayward offspring can prove so complex that we employ gauges on the label to convey the intensity of three key personality traits, Funk, Sour, and Fruit, presenting a picture of the ale at the time it was released. It will change as it ages, but don’t we all? Oak barrels were used to age the majority of beer used for Love Child No. 3—with beer aged from 16 months to nearly six years. Another portion of the beer spent 11 months in stainless tanks, souring on Lactobacillus. While very tart, the sourness is short-lived and the beer finishes dry with a trace of oak. Bottle pour split at home, bought this beer for a friend for picking me up some Fremont KDS, with KDS being as good as it is I’d say this beer is pretty close, from the sour catagorie side. Dark Amber pour, thin head. Strong sour tast to start, then smooths out with a little of the oke barrel tast coming through. Really good sour.

Bottle shared by DrewFace. Nose is full of fruit especially cherry. Light wordiness. Slightly hazy reddish color pour. Taste is initially puckering with a drying sensation. Pretty tasty.

Really solid sour. Great balance of fruit and sour and the brown ale isn’t bitter but complements it nicely. Just delightful all around.

Bottle shared. Amber and light hazy appearance. Sour, tart and dank with notes of funky yeast, fruit and light oak. Nicely done, this one has aged well.

"Pretty aggressively sour, even cutting through the bourbon, which is also more than adequate. This is an in your face beer, but with subtleties and a ton going on nonetheless. Acidic in feel, and a bigger beer abv wise. Lemony sour and bourbon play nicely together. Definitely a memorable one. I’d get this again too, though it was pretty expensive."

Bottle 75 cl at Sweet & Sour, Sätila, 2014-08-30. Thanks to tkrjukoff!
Hazy amber to light brown color, small yellow head. Acidic, currants, vinegar scent, some cinnamon. Light acidic at first, goes a bit sour, some vinegar, berry taste. Sort of fizzy mouthfeel, very low bitterness.

Bottle. Hazy red/brown body with a medium offwhite head. Aroma of cranberries, raisin, vinegar, light tartness. Taste on the more sour side with an acidic cherry and cranberry taste, mild vanilla, with a prominent bourbon touch in the finish. Getting better and better down the bottle, this is a very nice yet mild sour.
