COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boulevard’s Love Child Series of "wild" ales are barrel-aged with such boisterous cultures as Lactobaccillus and Brettanomyces. These wayward offspring can prove so complex that we employ gauges on the label to convey the intensity of three key personality traits, Funk, Sour, and Fruit, presenting a picture of the ale at the time it was released. It will change as it ages, but don’t we all? Oak barrels were used to age the majority of beer used for Love Child No. 3—with beer aged from 16 months to nearly six years. Another portion of the beer spent 11 months in stainless tanks, souring on Lactobacillus. While very tart, the sourness is short-lived and the beer finishes dry with a trace of oak. Bottled. Tart yogurt, cherries, some caramel. Earthy, medium sour flavors. Pretty nice stuff. Complex and authentic red.

Bomber. Sharp nose of dark tart fruit. Clear bright copper color. Scratchy sourness, hard unripe stone fruit, rise up into tart grapes, some yogurt. Thin-medium body with serious astringency. Scrapes the tongue clean with each sip, full of good fruitiness. Like it quite a lot.

Late night share by RussianDragon. Thanks Dave! This is one of those beers I consistently missed when it was on shelves, so I’m grateful to try it. Hazy brown body with an inch of tan head. the aroma offers stone fruits, booze, lactic sourness, funk, cherries, vanilla, oak, bourbon. A party for the olfactory senses. Nice flavor. A bit boozy still, though this bottle has aged a bit. I’m not bothered by this, per se. Raspberries and green apple with a boozy funk - how interesting. Medium to full bodied and palate coating. While this is god, I feel like Cascade Brewing sort of owns this style. Robust, high gravity, sour, complex, wild ales. Really fun to drink. This bottle is a good one to share a few ways.

750ml bottle, shared at home with my wife, brother and his girlfriend. Pours clear amber with short lived head. Aroma of balsamic, brown sugar and vanilla. Taste is quite tart, with balsamic and brown sugar bringing up the rear. Medium body, slick oily texture. Overall: pretty nice, even if it doesn’t really stand out in any particular way. Also, backlog notwithstanding, this is officially rating #700 for me. Looks like my New Years resolution to rate fewer beers, but rate them more thoughtfully, has been a failure so far. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

Pours a hazy brown with sediment visible when backlit. Head quickly dissipates to a mild lacing on rim of glass. Murky throughout. Aroma is brett and citrus with notes of oak. Flavor is balanced cherries, brett, sour funk. Finish is lactic acid tartness. Outstanding.

UPDATED: APR 24, 2014 Bottle. Pours cloudy amber, medium creamy tan head, good lacing. Aroma is vinous, funky, oak, bourbon. Flavor is dry, Puckering tart, oaky, tasty. Not much bourbon overall, but lots of wood notes. Medium body, creamy. Yummy.

Pours a cloudy light amber with a tiny slightly off white head. Nose of brett, oak and dark fruits. Taste is tart with sour cherries, oak, lemon, mellowed brett. The carbonation, tartness and oak flavors seem to blend very well together. The finish is dry and has a buttery bretty oak thing going on. No sign of the booze in there. Great beer very complex.

Bottle @ Yespr. Pours unclear with floaties, orange with a lasting small white head. Aroma is bourbon, wood, cherry like sour fruit, mild cheesy and peach. Taste is moderate sweet, and mild+ tart. Body is medium, texture is fluffy(very light slick), carbonation is moderate. Finishes mild sweet with lingering tartness. Not bad at all

Rødbrun farge med lyst beige skum. Lukter syrlig frukt og noe gjær. Smaker syrlig og er godt karbonert. Syrlig og god i ettersmak også. En god surøl!
