Pours a reddish orange with a foamy caramel tinge head. Smells of must, barnyard funk, tart fruit, wood and bourbon. Taste is funky and sour and fruity and oak-y. Mouth feel is acidic and oily at the same time. It’s just great.

Opened at the end of year Ottawa tasting, this one right after LC #2. Similar hazy amber but with more sediment and a dark beige head. Tart, dry, fresh, oak, bourbon more present, brett, caramel malts again. Moderate body and carbonation, tart, brett with some oak and vanilla and booze notes, seems more balanced then the #2 but something seemed to be lacking a bit in this one (relative to #2) - still a good beer.

750ml Bottle at home - Aroma of strawberry, vanilla, oaky cherry, follow but an extremly well blended medium sour body. Glowing ruby in color; a mild acidity leads to a nice little tart finish with a fruit character that lasts through the whole drinking experience. One of the most well crafted sours of the year for me and age worthy for sure.

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2013 Poured from a 750mL bottle at a Boulevard beer dinner hosted at Crust in Bettendorf, IA. A gorgeous sour - three beers aged independently, blended and aged again.
The ruby red appearance was stunning in the candlelight, and the sourness was up front without being overpowering. Nicely balanced, aromatic and flavorful. One of the best sour beers I've ever had. Develop a flavor for the genre before you try this one.

P: Pale mahogany body that glistens in the light. Adorned by a milky cap of khaki head. Head fizzles to a jiggly sheet of awesomeness.
S: Fruit roll ups, dry saliva, sharp tartness, delectable Brett funk, sweet bourbon mash, white grapes, wet moldy wood, pot resin. Faint cranberries cooked with cinnamon.
T/M: A sharp tartness starts this brew off, lemon juice acidity, musty funk, peppery spice, mild fruit presence, tart cherries, oak and bourbon lingering in the backdrop. Once warmed the bourbon comes out and the tartness tones down. Sting of vinegar on the effervescent finish.
O: Nice complexity that changes completely with temperature. When cold it’s sharp tartness comes through strong then the bourbon and wood really shine once warmed. Juicy fruit strings along the entire trip with the booze being kept at bay so it doesn’t overpower. I’m glad I hot more than one of these so I can see how this child grows. Cheers?

Soft brown pour with one finger of beige head. Nose is nice, fruity with some acidity and soft malty notes. Some wood and round Bourbon comes through as well. The barrel comes through more in the flavor, some dark fruit and a solid acidity shows as well.

Thanks to whoever sent me this garbage sauce! Pours a cloudy deep amber with little to no head. Aromas of sour oak, some funk, some light fruit. Taste is plenty sour with some yogurt laced oak and a splash of alcohol. Finishes with a nice pucker. Pretty good.
