Boulevard’s Love Child Series of "wild" ales are barrel-aged with such boisterous cultures as Lactobaccillus and Brettanomyces. These wayward offspring can prove so complex that we employ gauges on the label to convey the intensity of three key personality traits, Funk, Sour, and Fruit, presenting a picture of the ale at the time it was released. It will change as it ages, but don’t we all? Oak barrels were used to age the majority of beer used for Love Child No. 3—with beer aged from 16 months to nearly six years. Another portion of the beer spent 11 months in stainless tanks, souring on Lactobacillus. While very tart, the sourness is short-lived and the beer finishes dry with a trace of oak. UPDATED: JUN 29, 2014 Pours Light brown/deep orange with frothy, off white head. opaque much like a quad. A Ton of light brown sediment. Aroma has a lot of orange, caramel and malt. Mouth is very sour but very good. A lot of malt and sweet fruits. Some cherry and orange. Creamy, Medium bodied with a Very dry, tart finish. Surprisingly, I didn’t detect any bourbon, anywhere. Tart funky lacto and brett. Wild fruit and oak lingers on the palate. Probably better than batch 2 even

750ml bottle bought a while ago at Vinmonopolet Vika. Shared with Finn. Hazy apricot coloured body under a fair white lacing-head. Lemony tart aroma. Taste of oak, earth and ripe fruits with lemon up front. Tart fruity edge to the finish. Soft in the mouth. Refreshing palate cleanser (Tromsø 11.02.2015).

Sampled at an ESBLS. Light hazy brown with minimal head. A sweet vinous aroma. Very tart fruit flavors. Cherries bring lots of it. Big malts, too. Wood, bark, etc. Very sweet but with that tartness. Interesting and tasty.

750 mL bottle pour split. Pours a dark reddish orange color with a quick fading head. Sour dark fruit, and slight bourbon aroma. Flavor is tart up front with some sweet fruit flavors and a nice balance of bold bourbon almost hidden in the background. Very sour beer. Delicious, solid sour here. Love it.

Bottle pour split at home, bought this beer for a friend for picking me up some Fremont KDS, with KDS being as good as it is I’d say this beer is pretty close, from the sour catagorie side. Dark Amber pour, thin head. Strong sour tast to start, then smooths out with a little of the oke barrel tast coming through. Really good sour.

Bottle shared by DrewFace. Nose is full of fruit especially cherry. Light wordiness. Slightly hazy reddish color pour. Taste is initially puckering with a drying sensation. Pretty tasty.

Really solid sour. Great balance of fruit and sour and the brown ale isn’t bitter but complements it nicely. Just delightful all around.
