COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boulevard’s Love Child Series of "wild" ales are barrel-aged with such boisterous cultures as Lactobaccillus and Brettanomyces. These wayward offspring can prove so complex that we employ gauges on the label to convey the intensity of three key personality traits, Funk, Sour, and Fruit, presenting a picture of the ale at the time it was released. It will change as it ages, but don’t we all? Oak barrels were used to age the majority of beer used for Love Child No. 3—with beer aged from 16 months to nearly six years. Another portion of the beer spent 11 months in stainless tanks, souring on Lactobacillus. While very tart, the sourness is short-lived and the beer finishes dry with a trace of oak. Bottle from 02-2015 thanks to a trade with mr angrypirate06. Pours with a hazy medium hued red body and a large and mostly retentive off white head with good lace. Aromas are musty and funky with a noticeable acidity and a lightly acetic nose. Under ripe plums, tannins, oak, black cherries and some bourbon. Flavors are medium tart, bright and clean acidity with vibrant fruity notes of cherries, plums and dates. Nice tartness, medium funky notes, oak, light esters. You can feel the warmth, but any sort of alcohol taste is well hidden. Medium bodied, tart, prickly carbonation. Nice to drink. I feel like I might be underrating it a little bit.

From notes. Finally found the long-lost notebook from the 4 Elf Party at Dark Horse on December 13! So, that’s where this was found. Shared by Haley as I was wandering through the crowd. The pour is a dark reddish ambery color with a quick fading white head, lingering just a collar. No real lace here on it. The aroma is nice and tart with some beautiful sharp fruits. Cherry, grape and orange are real prominent. The taste is pretty sharp and tart cherry with a good orange peel thing going on. There isn’t a great complexity to it as I’ve had with some good sours, but I’m not going to complain. The mouth feel is pretty damn good with a nice subtle carbonation and a lingeringly sour tart finish. Not too bad, but I’ve had better!

Tart funky lacto and brett. Wild fruit and oak lingers on the palate. Probably better than batch 2 even

750ml bottle bought a while ago at Vinmonopolet Vika. Shared with Finn. Hazy apricot coloured body under a fair white lacing-head. Lemony tart aroma. Taste of oak, earth and ripe fruits with lemon up front. Tart fruity edge to the finish. Soft in the mouth. Refreshing palate cleanser (Tromsø 11.02.2015).

Sampled at an ESBLS. Light hazy brown with minimal head. A sweet vinous aroma. Very tart fruit flavors. Cherries bring lots of it. Big malts, too. Wood, bark, etc. Very sweet but with that tartness. Interesting and tasty.
