COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boulevard’s Love Child Series of "wild" ales are barrel-aged with such boisterous cultures as Lactobaccillus and Brettanomyces. These wayward offspring can prove so complex that we employ gauges on the label to convey the intensity of three key personality traits, Funk, Sour, and Fruit, presenting a picture of the ale at the time it was released. It will change as it ages, but don’t we all? Oak barrels were used to age the majority of beer used for Love Child No. 3—with beer aged from 16 months to nearly six years. Another portion of the beer spent 11 months in stainless tanks, souring on Lactobacillus. While very tart, the sourness is short-lived and the beer finishes dry with a trace of oak.

Pours a reddish color with a lacy off white head. Notes of sweet white balsamic vinegar, yarn, horseblanket, and sour pineapple. Sour yet dry finish. Very good.

Pours a hazy auburn brown with a white head and good lacing. Aroma is a good funky tart sour. Taste is the same with an oak backbone and a slight bit of alcohol way underneath. Very good. Tastes don't linger. Medium, slightly oily mouthfeel that is moderately carbonated but feels lively on the tongue because of the tartness and sourness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared At WOB - Sarasota. Poured cloudy copper brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium to heavy complex fruit and sour yeast aroma. Medium to abundant body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet & sour flavor with a medium to heavy sour & sweet finish of moderate to long duration. I shared this with new people and enjoyed the beer.

(750ml bottle shared @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Nov 14 2014) Pours a clear orange-brown with a moderate bubbly white head that leaves a little lace. Aroma has a nice sour fruity nose with lots of lactic acid, sour apple, cherry, lemon etc with a bit of malt sweetness, woody notes, rather vinous but with hints of the whiskey barrels (though hard to pinpoint if you don’t know it was there). On the palate, initial big hit of lacto, lemon, apple, red berries, quite woody. The sourness dampens a little from the middle on, letting the decent malt core support the fruit and quite a bit of barrel, wood and wine with hints of the whiskey too. On the finish, tart white wine acidity and fruit clings to the top of the mouth while the tongue gets a dry, oaky barrel flavour with a bit of funk. Mouthfeel quite light and effervescent, crisp and not at all heavy for the ABV. Very cool sour, not the funky complexity of a lambic because the character is basically lacto, but the malt body is sufficient to hold that sourness and let the mix of barrels come forward. Really easy to drink too, could be dangerous stuff.

From a shared 750 ml bottle. Vinegar and cherry. Light wine in body and taste. Tangy and a bit acidic.

Un grossier mélange vineux qui fini par être agréable par moment mais difficile à boire au final. Pomme surette, carambole, petits fruits rouge enveloppés dans des tanins féroces forment principalement ma dernière impression.

Bottle shared with Dan and Brian at home. Small snifters. Redish brown hazy pour with small head and rings. Aroma is serious fruits like apple, pear, cherries, and berries. You also get a nice tart funkyness on the nose with barrel. The taste is really amazing blend of fruits, brett, lacto and oak barrel. Slightly dry finish, tart but not vinegar. Light body, moderate carbonation. Really surprised me how good this is.

Very nice sour from boulevard. It has a thin, white head that dissipates quickly. It's bright and sour on the nose with a little fruit. The beer itself is pretty tart with noted of fruit and oak. You can't go wrong with this one! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
