jezmez68 (281), Chesterton, Indiana, USA Jul 5, 2008 Bottle from Wal-Mart in Lebanon, MO. I read the label and thought this was going to be a brown ale. Eh, I thought, okay. Got home, poured it into a glass and didn’t think it was a brown ale. Checked the classification here, and sho’ nuff, it’s a dunkelweizen. Smells of peanut butter. Pours a medium brown. Tastes like a weizen, only a bit more toasty. Smooth finish. A good American example of the style. I dig it.
fidelis83 (60), Clinton, Iowa, USA Oct 7, 2008 Pours slightly hazy dark reddish brown with a thin off white head. Aroma is banana, sweet ginger/clove spice, and a little dark dried fruit. Flavor is yeasty bananas, cotton candy, caramel malt and all around pretty good. Finish is pretty quick but a little lemon and some spicy yeast bite. tronraner (1434), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Oct 7, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours hazy mahogany with soapy beige head. The aroma is lemon, wild mint, a few sweet banana hints, a mild clovey spiciness, and a touch of raisin. The flavor is a mellow, yeasty banana bread with some soft, spicy notes around it. Prickly finish. Ok, but pretty uninteresting. DA (2474), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Oct 3, 2008 Dark rusty brown color, cloudy, with a off-white head. Bananas in the nose, soft clove notes. Cereal and caramel sweetness up front, fruity finish with lots of esters. Tastes like sweet banana bread with a soft palate and lingering dry finish. I thought this was quite a bit better then the score suggests. undsioux7 (506), Cologne, Minnesota, USA Sep 29, 2008 Pours hazy deep amber/copper with a off white head. Aroma of yeast, citris, spice. Taste is pretty much the same with some grainy caramel malt. It is fairly light, but was easy drinking and I liked the flavor the yeast added. Busted_Flat (417), Edina, Minnesota, USA Sep 19, 2008 Poured deep amber with a tan head. Aroma - Yeast and spice. Starts with roast malt, some spice and fruity notes. Very thin. The taste quickly fades.
