Nutcracker Ale is Boulevard’s special offering for the holiday season. This hearty, warming brew is a classic winter ale, deep amber in color, with hints of molasses balanced by the "spiciness" of freshly harvested "wet" Chinook hops.

Bottled. Best before 2/1/7. Beer is cloudy, medium-brown. Head is initially average, off-white, frothy. Diminishing.
Aroma is lightly malty with notes of toasted grain and bread crust, trace flickering hints of coffee and molasses; Hoppy with a heavy note of resin/pine, light herbal note; Yeasty with a light note of basement.
The flavor is moderately-to-heavily bittersweet, lightly acidic with a long, moderately bittersweet finish. Rubbing alcohol in the finish and retros
The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2012 Bottle (BB Jul/2012). Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white to light brown, mostly lasting. Body is hazy dark amber-brown, unfiltered. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted bread), moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit), lightly yeasty (dough), with a light note of dried mango. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Hoppy brown ale or a dark amber ale? Very watery. Not very interesting or wintery, but ok.

12 oz. bottle shared by bockyhorsey via his Secret Santa - Pours a reddish-amber color with a small off white head. Very light lacing. Has a light pine and citrus hop aroma. No real spice scent detected. Flavor is also light citrus, pine, and caramel malt. Medium body. This was a good beer. Thanks go out to Bill and his SS.

Too many flavors going on with this seasonal. A littley syrupy for my liking. Had a nice tan head that lasts.

(Bottle) Pours a dark copper color with a decent tan head. A couple of different malts dominates the flavor. Brown sugar, burnt caramel, and floral hops give this beer a pretty unique flavor for a holiday ale. This is probably one of my favorite holiday ales that I’ve tried this year. Definitely worth a try.

UPDATED: NOV 26, 2007 2007 version: Cloudy, dark amber body, with a very thin, off-white head. Hardly any lacing. Citrus, pine, and malt in the nose; rather faint, but clean and inviting. Hop bitterness and some sweet malts in the initial flavor, and the finish is dominated by dry bitter hops with a somewhat creamy base. Great carbonation and weight. This beer is definitely better after it sits in your glass for a few minutes, so please be patient. Happy holidays!

Bottle. Boulevard has some great beers. This is perhaps the best! It is a dark reddish brown, whith good aroma, and nice mouthfeel and just a hint of spice. A perfect winter beer. At 224 calories, better drink this one slowly!

Bottle, pours slightly cloudy deep amber color with a moderate creamy tan head that dissipates; good lacing. Aroma of hops, malt, some yeast and slight molasses. Has a bit of a hops bite that tames quickly as the malt takes over on the finish. Nothing earth shattering or complex, but overall a nice balance and a good holiday beer. Very drinkable.
