3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A nice deep reddish brown pour with a light tan head. The aroma is spicy along with the flavor. Ends in a nice nutty finish. After a couple went down I realized it was a little stronger than I thought. A perfect winter beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: SEP 26, 2012 Has to be tasted at room temperature. Dark brown, nice dark tan head. The smell resembles an abbey dubbel, strangely enough. Clove and bananas are mixed with pine, scotch, cinnamon and alcohol in the aroma. Mouthfeel is even, a little heavy, but just slightly under the texture of a porter. Flavor centers around the hops, but only a small influence of the cascade, which is quite nice, so it must the chinook and nugget that I’m mostly tasting. Fairly even throughout, with a nutty finish. Funny how the hops are subtle in the flavor but very apparant on the palate, as it leaves you quite dry (think cotton-mouth). I am completely overrating this one because I have a history with it and am quite fond of the winter memories of which it’s become a part.

Nice beer, almost has that barley wine flavor which I love, but a bit more malty. Nice beer, why not drink 2!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
The first try of the 2003 vintage: Poured this one into a hurricane style class, which showed off a burgandy colored body with a fluffy brown head. A little less hop presence than the past 2 years, but this one has a more chewy palate. Spices almost like a nice spice cake, with a nice blend of spicy and sweet. I always look forward to this one.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Great Flavor. Minimal head out of bottle, little lacing. Big Flavor from the start. Nice. Description says warming, it does. Deep Amber/light Ruby color. Great blend of flavors not overpowering any of the others. Layers of flavor in this one. I like this better than Bully Porter and it was great. If you haven't tried it you're missing out on this one.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(2001 vintage) What a surprise, found this while going thru what a thought was a box of Belguim Abbey beers, hidden in the corner. Worried it may not be any good, the siblings, as I remembered, where very nice...so here goes the pour... Appearance looks okay, dark copper hue and a moderate head and fair lacing. Aroma hinted of spices, caramel, dates, brown sugar, and leather. Spices and sweetness went straight to the palate, intense. Some ripe fruit and aromatic hops did shine through, enhanceing the taste. Complex yet nicely balanced. Moderately sticky feel, spices do linger on as well. This bottle seemed to stand the test of time, thanks goodness.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours deep shade of amber with a medium beige head and decent lacing. Aroma is full of spice with a nice mix of malt. Flavor definitely has the spices of the season – cinnamon and nutmeg.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: DEC 13, 2003 (12-13-03, 2003 bottle best by 2/1/04): Medium beige head atop a cloudy copper body. Aroma is sweet, toffee, spicy (ginger). Taste is medium sweet, dominated by toffee, but also spicy (ginger+?), some herbal, finishing medium grapefruit. Medium body, slightly acidic. Nice take on the winter warmer style (7/4/7/4/14). (7-20-03, 2002 bottle): Floatie-filled murky brown body with creamy tan head. Aroma is moderately sweet, floral, spicy. Taste is floral, malty, spicy, toffee, light grapefruit. Finishes with slight alcohol warming. Creamy medium/full body. Very nice winter warmer. (7/4/7/4/14)

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: NOV 22, 2003 ReRate-2003 fresh! This brew poured a very dark garrnet color-nice appearance!! aroma full of fruits-sour apples, pears, peaches and dates. Palate was more of the same with a somewhat wine-ey thing going on with the finish. very unique. somewhat oily. Another nice brew that ages well. the 02 i had was very similar, but the apple flavor was more upfront. Thanks Acrodizer for this one!!
2002 bottle-another good brew from Boulevard. I bought this beer on 5/24 in Oklahoma city. This sample has tons of floaties, the most i have ever seen in a brew. This didn't hinder the flavor of this malty and spicy brew. I would love to try this when its more "fresh"
