Nutcracker Ale is Boulevard’s special offering for the holiday season. This hearty, warming brew is a classic winter ale, deep amber in color, with hints of molasses balanced by the "spiciness" of freshly harvested "wet" Chinook hops.

On draft. It’s got a fruity-sweet aroma that was pretty unexpected, along with some hop. Thin head with a dark brownish-red color. It’s got a bit of the alcohol flavor you’d expect from a winter warmer, as well as some piney hop flavors that linger nicely. Overall a very nice, slightly more hop-forward winter warmer.

Pours dark amber with beige creamy head, decent lacing. Aroma is mostly roast malt with a touch of winter spice, taste is more of the malt, some sharp hops and a little spice to provide some bite. Nice winter ale.

Rated on 12-08-2009. When poured, this beer forms a medium sized frothy, fizzy ivory head with a short retention, hazy amber body, fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and virtually no lacing. The Aroma is spicy, pine citrus, and grapefruit hops. The Taste is bitter, citrus hops and mildly spicy. This beer is light-medium bodied. Overall, this beer is quaffable, not overly spicy or hoppy tasting and is worth trying.

On tap @ Provisions Market. Dark amber/brown pour with a khaki head. Aromas of caramel, toast, and cinnamon. Some nutmeg, a touch of booze, and spicy hops. Flavor is on the sweet side. Lots of caramel and toast and brown sugar. Nutmeg, cinnamon, and maybe ginger(bread). Kind of bitter, surprisingly. Floral and spicy hops. Just okay.

Solid cloudy amber/brown pour with a thin layer of offwhite head. Strong aroma of carmel and spruce pitch, some floral hops too, very smooth smelling. Average carbonation, tingly mouthfeel, finish a bit dry. Flavor of big malt, mostly carmel, pine and floral hops and a hint of cranberry or something. Good IPA that’s a bit in your face, hefty on both hops and malt, carmel and christmas-y holly flavors are unique and blend to smell and taste similar ot a fresh christmas tree.

P: A brown/ruby red effervescent body with lush tan micro bubble head. S: Holiday spices, soapy hops, molasses and rich roasted syrupy malt. Spiced rum and dark fruits followed by a bready base. T/M: Roasted caramel malts, sweet cherries, prunes, dates and a bitter floral and pine profile with a touch of citrus. Nutty with holiday spices that bring a warming holiday sensation to the palate. Heavy doses of malt but a nice hop bitterness to round it out. Body is medium-full and sticky with a gentle sting of carbonation. Finishes dry with lingering caramel and nuts. O: A great holiday warmer that really packs a flavorful punch. The alcohol is present but does kill the palate. Can’t wait to go back to Oklahoma were I can drink this yearly. Cheers!

1/7/2014. On tap. Pours deep amber with a tan head. Spicy aromas with molasses, dark fruit and roasted malt. The spice leads the way, but this is a very good seasonal.
