3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Deep red-amber with a weak head
Aroma is a mismash of components that dont gel at first: spices, caramel, earthy hops ... But this improved with some warming or just the repeated tasting. The flavor was initially better than the aroma but as the latter improved they became more similar in both quality and character.
O: an interesting and distinct winter ale. Not challenging.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a translucent deep amber with a medium bubbly off white head. Aroma of caramel malt, nuts, toffee and piney hops. Flavor of caramel, toffee, brown sugar and some pine/citrusy hop notes.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Superb. First, aroma -- I could smell this all day. Beautifully sweet and winter spice on the nose. One of the more aromatic specimens of this variety. Taste is solid as well. Requisite malt base with solid winter spices. But it's 80 F in Arizona! Oh well. A-

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Comes out of the tap a clear, bubbly mahogany with a thin cinnamon-tan head, but lack of head must be due to how it is served. Aroma has caramel, nutty and cloves notes riding a sweet malty undertone. Flavor delivers a little more than what the aroma promises: caramel, cinnamon, cloves, hints of molasses and horehound. Texture is fizzy and smooth, if none too firm. Donít wait for the official beginning of the winter holiday season, enjoy one today.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap @ TacoMac, Cumming. Medium brown color, dark tan creamy head. Sexy lace. Nutty aroma, hint of alcohol in nose, light grassy hops. Sweet malts, (Whoo!) some alcohol, nutty grains, earthy hops. Finishes with a bit of an alcoholic burn. I really like this beer, a great Winter Warmer. (3871)

Canít believe itís 7.8% ABV. Not overly malty for such high alcohol beer. Could stand to have a tad more hops .

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pour out of 12 oz bottle, dark reddish brown pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of lots of caramel, molasses, lots of nutmeg, cinnamon, hints of a grassy note, some red fruits in there as well. Taste is a mix of red fruits, some cinnamon, touch of grass mixing into some caramel, toffee, and molasses, finishing fairly sweet, slightly spicy. Decent.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A - Pours a hazy copper brown with an off-white head with legendary retention. This head does not move. Tight sheets of lacing.
S - Sweet caramel malt, herbal hops hints of green grapes and apples.
T - Moderate hops. Sweet malt base with walnuts. Not a lot of spice. Some green apples. The malt has a candy sweetness. Hops finish it of and seems somewhat balanced between the sweet and bitter.
M - Moderate carbonation, creamy.
Nice sweetness and hoppier than expected. No spice to speak of. A different take on the style. Good drinkability.
Serving type: on-tap

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle. Pours semi-cloudy orangish amber with thick off white head. Aroma is sweet caramel malt with slight yeasty and floral hop notes. Taste is heavy syrupy malt with mild citrus and floral hops in the background. Boozy, almost barrel aged flavor. Tastes big, even at 7.8% abv. Maltier than usual for a winter beer, and thatís saying something for this style. You wonít confuse this with a regular PNW winter ale.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Floral hoppy aroma. Dark amber with medium tan head - a bit of sediment. Immediate taste is citrus - sweet orange peel....then caramel, and a slightly dry hop finish...maybe a little too dry.
