Nutcracker Ale is Boulevard’s special offering for the holiday season. This hearty, warming brew is a classic winter ale, deep amber in color, with hints of molasses balanced by the "spiciness" of freshly harvested "wet" Chinook hops.

Bottle. Reddish brown pour with a thin ligh head. Aroma is fairly weak with some malt and a bit of spice. Flavor isn’t all that bad. Some caramel malt flavor, some nice hops and is fairly smooth. Not the best xmas beer ever, but far from the worst.

The nose is malty and floral with notes of caramel and pine. A hazy, mohogany brew with a frothy, medium sized off-white head. Decent lacing. Bitter, malty, tart and spicey. Complex. Long, pungent yet dry finish with clover and straw at the wee end. A very good winter warmer.

Tasted from a bottle at the Parade of Darks in Denver, Colorado. Lightish orange appearance that’s fairly. Mildly spiced with nutmeg. Orange tasting brew that has a light to medium body and somewhat spiced. Kind of weird and not all that impressive.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with valpoaj (thanks!). Poured a medium to deeper and cloudy mahogany with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of pine, winter spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, and some others), and citrus. Like an IPA that I dumped some x-mas spices into. Tastes of caramel, spices, and citrus.

Thanks to Indra for the trade. 2002 Bottle: Pours a rubicund color appropriate for the season, with a medium thick beige head and nice lacing. Aroma is malty and spicy. Medium-bodied with flavors of malt, cinnamon, licorice and some hops. Finish is nicely spiced with a caramel aftertaste. Well done.
