COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nutcracker Ale is Boulevardís special offering for the holiday season. This hearty, warming brew is a classic winter ale, deep amber in color, with hints of molasses balanced by the "spiciness" of freshly harvested "wet" Chinook hops.

Bottle. Aroma of malt and caramel. Slight spices to the aroma as well. The taste actually has multiple stages. First you get the hoppy, citric taste that quickly fades into malts and caramel. The finish then tastes extra sugary/sweet with a bit of a cloying citric bite to it. This is a pretty full bodied taste, definitely a solid beer. 5.9% alcohol.

Golden amber pour. Medium bright head. Hop forward aroma. Taste is mostly hop spiciness with sweetness from the molasses with a hint of esther in the finish. ---Rated via iPhone

12 oz. bottle from HyVee Marion Ar: Aroma seems a bit muted. There is a bit of black pepper and oddly enough I get some cinnamon spice here. Ap: Pours a hazy copper with a two finger cream colored head that dissipates quickly and leaves just a bit of lace. T: The flavor is very spicy, with lots of black pepper flavor. There is some sweetness, and maybe a bit of burnt sugar. However, the finish is oddly bitter, but not in a pleasant way (think more grapefruit rind than dark chocolate). It does become slightly more balanced as it warms. P: Medium body with very assertive carbonation. O: This was a bit of a let down. I just found everything to be a bit off.

Wow! Not expecting such radical awesomeness at all! I picked up the Boulevard mix pack as usual...Oh, cool, a new seasonal beer. Hmm, Nutcracker Ale, probably some nut brown lamezorz. Poured it: Cloudy, but looks kinda like a nice unfiltered IPA, ha wouldnít that be funny, if this was hoppy! Aroma: Whoa! Multiple Hops, spices, pine, caramel...What am I in for? Flavor: Holy balls. This stuff comes through. Initially a tasteful hop bomb, quickly giving way to the caramel and molasses of the nose, then finishing like a liquefied christmas tree. Itís all real quick, and surprisingly enough a christmas tree finishes dry. I am really liking this beer a lot.

Decent winter ale from Boulevard. Nice dark red color and piney nose, though a bit malty for me. Good warm alcoholic finish. Solid ABV to price ratio, makes it a nice holiday standby.

Red-amber pour with a nice beige head. Aroma is spice and some fruit and caramel. Sweet, with enough bitterness to balance. Flavors follow through the aroma.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2008 What an excellent beer. A lovely dark reddish-amber color. Very spicy hop aroma and taste, with a malty and sweet flavor underneath, and a very nice hop finish. It has the aroma of a very hoppy beer, the finish of a medium hoppy beer, and a flavor excellently balance between malt and hops.

Pours a chestnut color. About two fingers beige head. Medium retention, medium lacing. Also has some white chunks floating around. Slightly hazy

Aroma is burnt sugar. Caramel and dark roasted malts. Smells pretty stout.

Taste is burnt sugar, molasses. Dark fruits like dates or prune. Itís piney hops Itís hard to describe.

Mouthfeel is full. High ABV make this not so drinkable.

Overall, itís not so bad. I was expecting some sort of spiced ale or something, but itís not. Itís strong flavored, may not be for everyone. As it warms, I think it gets better. Iím neutral on a recommendation.
