3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On draft. Itís got a fruity-sweet aroma that was pretty unexpected, along with some hop. Thin head with a dark brownish-red color. Itís got a bit of the alcohol flavor youíd expect from a winter warmer, as well as some piney hop flavors that linger nicely. Overall a very nice, slightly more hop-forward winter warmer.

Pours an overly-carbonated head on a dark amber ale, have to stop mid-pour. Cream head lasts for a long time. Notable hops aroma. Spicy hops taste on a decently thicker and very bubbly consistency. Slightly dry finish with not unpleasant bitter hops aftertaste.

Some nice hops in the aroma. Yeasty aromas are there too. Some citrus fruit aromas. Mild sweet malt aroma. Poured a red-brown color with decent head that dissipated fairly quickly. Large amount of citrus flavor. This could be from the wet hops. Decent amount of bitterness, but well balanced with plenty of sweetness. Nice mouth feel, medium-full body. Iím enjoying this beer, but I probably would not drink these back to back if I had even other Boulevard beers available. For me its not a session beer. Its good to try and maybe have one every so often, but Iím already thinking about the next beer I will have, and it wonít be the other bottle from my sample pack.

Poured into my New Belgium Globe Glass. No freshness date on bottle.
2008 Edition (if that matters)
Color is a copper/ruby brown. Thin off white head. Very slight lace.
Smell is of cinnamon and roasted nuts. Taste is malty. A lot of spices and earthy floral hops are present.
Mouthfeel is just slightly bitter, but then is smooth and creamy.
Overall, this is a really great winter beer and easy to drink. Iíd recommend this for a nice session beer.

UPDATED: DEC 26, 2011 Brown with small off white head, very little lacing. Light malt aroma with piney notes. Subtle nutty flavor with a distinctive piney hop bitterness. Good beer, easy to drink. I had to update this rating because every time I have one I like it a little better. I will certainly be looking forward to when this comes back next year.

Pours a cloudy amber with tan one finger head. Spiciness up front which leads to a nice malty, hoppy finish. Hats off to Boulevard for another high quality brew. Try it!

If you think this is good -- go to the brewery toward the end of the season! All the hops sink to the bottom and they squeeze it out. Call it "nut sack" if you will. Spicy, carmelly, hoppy. Itís a holiday masterpiece.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle pours golden orange with a long lasting white head. Aroma is malty with caramel and citrus notes. Tastes surprisingly more bitter than sweet, with caramel flavor that is overpowered by a grapefruit citrus and spice finish. Medium carbonation with a light-medium body. Decent beer but would like to see more malt presence in this style of beer.
