COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nutcracker Ale is Boulevard’s special offering for the holiday season. This hearty, warming brew is a classic winter ale, deep amber in color, with hints of molasses balanced by the "spiciness" of freshly harvested "wet" Chinook hops.

Had this on tap, at a (thankfully) smoke free bar in Illinois. Nice to really be able to taste a beer at a bar, without the aroma of stale smoke! Poured a copper, to medium amber. Typical head, some retention. Smells of hops, and malt. Taste was a fine balance between floral hops, and malt, with a slight hint of yeast. As expected, the hoppiness rose as the temp rose, which worked well for me. A nice, dry-hoppy finish. Had 2 of these, not really a session beer for me, 2 was enough. But, I really enjoyed both. Nice job, Boulevard.

Very dark orange pour with a thin beige head. Smell the citrusy hops, resin, and caramel. Body is super smooth. Rich caramel in the front and spiciness/bitterness in the finish. Creamy and delicious. Love this stuff. First winter beer that I can highly recommend. Boulevard makes damn good beers.

Poured very dark and slightly cloudy with off-white head. Nice lacing going on here. Nose is citrusy. Taste is also citrusy and has a caramel malty type of taste. This is a pretty damn good beer.

Wow. I’m usually not a fan of these kinds of ales (Cascade hops). But I really like this one. The only reason I git it was b/c I hd tried their Bully! Porter and loved it. Is seasonal, so you can only get it in the winter. Nice hoppiness and spicyness. The hop heads will love this. Nice in a cold winter’s night.

This one is hard to rate because the beer was inconsistant.one bottle would be excellant and the next would be lousy.I am going to rate the better ones with some minus points for inconsistancy.

Pours dark brown with a decent head. Aroma of pine & hops. Flavor starts out with carmel malt, quickly followed by a sharp hop & pine taste. I liked last years version better but still not bad.

Pours a very deep red. Not much light can get through this brew. Aroma is faint, almost nothing. There’s a ghost of the chinooks and some spice. The flavor is a bit nutty, a bit hoppy, some carbination, and a hint of alchohol.

Nice spicy malty aroma. Hints of cinamon and vanilla with a great hops finish, though mild bitterness. Overall mild flavors, I have had better winter ales.

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2012 2012 (November) - pretty radical shift for this year’s offering. it’s now 7.8% abv (on bottle and website) and it seems the way they accomplished this is to add brown and dark sugar (ingredient list on website). bottle says "Contains pure water, barley malt, wheat malt, hops, and yeast". nowhere does it say anything about sugar... pretty shoddy if you ask me. anyway, it’s not bad tasting at all, 6 bucks a sixer, and more than capable of giving you one of those bizarre adjunct headaches if you think it still the 5.9% version.. lol 2005 - Much better offering from Boulevard. Their Pale Ale became drinkable within the past year and now their "holiday" beer really steps up to the plate. Tons of flavor and backbone for a Boulevard beer. This beer is more properly classified as an American Hop Ale. Really, just a very nice effort from the boys in K.c.

Aroma os spice, pine and hoppy floralness. Taste is allspice, cinnamon with clove and then a citric hop wave rolls over it all. A bready toast or biscuit malt backs things up.
