2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
From a bottle. Aroma of roasted malts and earthy tones. Full body and medium-weight palate; flavors were roasted and bready with a strong alcohol backbone. Decent winter ale.

Wow. Iím usually not a fan of these kinds of ales (Cascade hops). But I really like this one. The only reason I git it was b/c I hd tried their Bully! Porter and loved it. Is seasonal, so you can only get it in the winter. Nice hoppiness and spicyness. The hop heads will love this. Nice in a cold winterís night.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours dark brown with a decent head. Aroma of pine & hops. Flavor starts out with carmel malt, quickly followed by a sharp hop & pine taste. I liked last years version better but still not bad.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This one is hard to rate because the beer was inconsistant.one bottle would be excellant and the next would be lousy.I am going to rate the better ones with some minus points for inconsistancy.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a very deep red. Not much light can get through this brew. Aroma is faint, almost nothing. Thereís a ghost of the chinooks and some spice. The flavor is a bit nutty, a bit hoppy, some carbination, and a hint of alchohol.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice spicy malty aroma. Hints of cinamon and vanilla with a great hops finish, though mild bitterness. Overall mild flavors, I have had better winter ales.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: NOV 18, 2012 2012 (November) - pretty radical shift for this yearís offering. itís now 7.8% abv (on bottle and website) and it seems the way they accomplished this is to add brown and dark sugar (ingredient list on website). bottle says "Contains pure water, barley malt, wheat malt, hops, and yeast". nowhere does it say anything about sugar... pretty shoddy if you ask me. anyway, itís not bad tasting at all, 6 bucks a sixer, and more than capable of giving you one of those bizarre adjunct headaches if you think it still the 5.9% version.. lol
2005 - Much better offering from Boulevard. Their Pale Ale became drinkable within the past year and now their "holiday" beer really steps up to the plate. Tons of flavor and backbone for a Boulevard beer. This beer is more properly classified as an American Hop Ale. Really, just a very nice effort from the boys in K.c.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aroma os spice, pine and hoppy floralness.
Taste is allspice, cinnamon with clove and then a citric hop wave rolls over it all. A bready toast or biscuit malt backs things up.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a rusty, hazed burnt orange with a fluffy, light tan head. The aroma is full of fresh hopped goodness. Pine needles , spices, peaches and a bit of fruitiness I imagine is coming from the yeast. Flavors of sweet caramel and toffee in the front. Finishes with oranges, brown sugar,:spicy, piny hops, and a cookie dough like maltiness Med-full in body, with absolutely no alcohol heat. This batch has a far more pronounced hop character than I remember in years past, which isnít a bad thing. Damn, itís good this year!!

I really enjoyed this seasonal brew. Very nice hoppy flavor with plenty of citrus and pine notes. One of my top holiday brews.
